Good luck to the 2,000 who will be at the game. It’s a start. Roll on the day when we can all go back safely & not worry about strangers sitting next to us or queuing at the train station after. That’s probably still 2/3 months away at least.
Sadly I think we won't see all fans free to attend until next season. Even with the vaccine it will take a while for all restrictions to be lifted. I can also see severe restrictions on Cheltenham Festival attendance too this coming Spring. That's more difficult to control than a single football match, because nearly everyone travels a great distance to get there. For the sake of those who love their racing, I hope the Government does not decide to simply close the doors. Unfortunately that would be the easest option for them, and would simplify the job of police who will be trying to control traffic and prevent crowds building up. Only a very fast roll-out of vaccines and a real collapse in infection rates offers some hope. Or could the festival be delayed a few months? That might allow the vaccines time to work, and save the event as something everyone who wants to can attend.
A lot of the best horses come over from Ireland for the Cheltenham Festival.... and a lot of the best spectators come from Ireland too.... unless there is an air bridge between the UK and Ireland I can see crowd numbers being heavily restricted.
It is a bit harsh on the people of LB Bromley and LB Bexley not being entered into the draw for tickets but (as the EU says) 'rules is rules' and they do live in Kent ..... a tier 3 area!
I live in the London Borough of Bexley and have a Kent address. I was told it counts as being in London. Do you know something I don't?
That was my understanding too. If you live in a London Borough (even if you have a non-London post code) you're in tier 2. Perhaps I'm wrong. If all London borough residents are in tier 2 though, it seems a bit unfair of the Club to exclude fans from a ticket draw based on their post codes - if that is what they are doing. The Club might say post codes are the only thing they have to identify where fans come from. The reality may be that they could check on individual post codes to see if the people concerned are within the borough of Bexley, or are actually in Kent. But individual checks might take time and manpower they don't have (or don't want to commit).
Bexleyheath is a town in the London Borough of Bexley in Greater London, England with a population of 31,929. It is 12 miles (19.3 km) south-east of Charing Cross, and is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London.[2] In the London Borough of Bexley website it says Bexley is in tier 2
You are having your chain pulled. Bexley is definitely one of the 32 London Boroughs and is in Tier 2.
but how can the Club say that LB Bromley and LB Bexley are not in Kent when it is clearly stated in their postcodes?..... Rules is Rules Kent is Tier 3 surely?
As is often Mr Lardiman, you're correct, Bexley and Bromley residents are tier 2. Relating to you're previous post regards attending, it would not surprise me in the least if a large chunk of NEXT season will be lost before capacity crowds will be accepted. Also, even when we get to some sort of normality I think pubs, restaurants, football and other entertainment venues will be lost of MANY people. People will still be reluctant to sit next to a stranger.
