Hornets confirm appointment of life-long Watford fan in newly created role...
FOLLOWING promotion to the Premier League, Watford FC have appointed a new dedicated Supporter Liaison Officer ahead of the 2015/16 season.

Dave Messenger, a life-long Watford fan, is a well-known name among the Hornets faithful and was a contributor and editor of various Watford fanzines, as well as being a key player in early fundraising activities for the Watford FC Supporters’ Trust.

His late father, Ed, was also instrumental in setting up the Watford FC Enables group, making Dave an ideal person to manage the overall function of supporter engagement for the club.

In taking on a required role for all Premier League clubs, Dave will provide a direct line of communication for supporters, act as a conduit between the club and its fans, and also engage with supporters on matchdays and at all club functions.

Dave will also act as a key stakeholder in external relationships with the Premier League, as well as building a trusted network with fellow SLOs at other clubs.

Throughout the coming season, Watford FC will aim to continue meeting with supporters on a face-to-face basis. Dave will meet with the various supporter groups regularly, while our ‘At Your Place’ meetings give fans the opportunity to attend Q&A sessions with senior club management, football management and players.

We will also strive to introduce further face-to-face consultation channels with our supporters during 2015/16, and these will be announced via watfordfc.com and social media channels in due course.

We always welcome interaction and feedback through regular daily dialogue. Constructive criticism is often used to shape future decisions or timings.

Dave can be contacted on 01923 496397, or by email at [email protected].

Emails will always be acknowledged, and we will always aim to resolve any issues within five days. If we are unable to meet this timeline, we will communicate and advise extended timelines accordingly.

Nice one Yorkie. It always amazes me that we have so many fans who travel such a distance to home games let alone the away games. Long may it continue <applause>

He was a regular contributor to the WML, but will no longer be able to. He is a good communicator and seems ideal for the job.
