What are peoples general views on the quality of our support this season, home and away, and what marks would you give out of 10? In My Opinion: Home ââ¬â 3/10 ââ¬â Absolutely dire for pretty much every game. Away ââ¬â 7/10 ââ¬âCertainly good at the games I've been to, which I admit only comes to 5, but never much more than that.
You say our home support is dire but how many away games have you been to with better home support? I know a couple of reading fans who thought our support was the best theyd seen this year. I think were just back to how it was before the prem.
In terms of turnout it's been pretty decent all year. I think we've only had one match where the attendance has been below 20K this season, which isn't bad considering we were pretty dreadful for the first half of the season. Atmosphere, well yes, it's been poor at times but not many clubs have fans that are constantly noisey throughout the 90 minutes. Fans always prefer away matches anyway.
The level of attendance at the KC has been excellent - only Derby night game early on in the season dipped below 20k and only by a couple of hundred at that. The vocal support has been less than average - even people around me in E7 in the East Stand sit on their hands and say nowt during matches. The support is a two way thing - yes the performances have been mixed to say the least but a bit of encouragement wouldn't go amiss. I probably think this year, whilst the support has stayed loyal, we have all suffered a hangover from being beaten up in the PL for two years. Hopefully, a sustained attack on promotion next season may be different (assuming we don't make the playoffs this year) PS: AP's proposal to move E1 & E2 and create a more confined 'singing section' behind the North Stand goal should improve the atmosphere similar to that at the likes of Molineux.
Our home attendances have held up well, though the atmosphere at the KC has been poor. Probably down below 20,000 again on Saturday, daft kick off time, poor travelling support from the oppo, PC Pantsdowns warnings etc. Our away support has generally been excellent, both in numbers and the noise created.
Home atmosphere 3 out of 10 Away games Ive been to this season 7.5 out of 10. Which goes to say 2000 - 3500 fans at away games makes more noise than 20,000+ at home games!
The support has mirrored the team's performances this season. Dire and way higher than it should be. I expect us to average around 17k if that this season, people won't continue to pay to watch the boring brand of football presented to them.
We have better home support than most of the other teams in the top two divisions, it is still poor, but it is to be expected. Our away support has been excellent as usual.
The support next season will at least match this season, it may well exceed it. Fortunately, the majority of city fans don't have the same gloomy outlook as TWF and see the team improving all the time. Further additions in the summer will raise expectations further and that will be reflected in the attendances. The home atmosphere may be a bigger issue to sort, the away fans will probably be moved to the NW corner, but Adam has to convince much of the east stand to move into the north, which won't be easy. He's obviously aware of the problem and is trying to address it, we should also play our part.
Agree with OLM, let's hope the move to shift the away supporters from the north stand and into the west works. I might get the fossils in the west stand excited and a little bit vocal.
Not forgetting the quality of football at home has been dreadful. We have about the lowest number of goals scored at home in all 4 leagues. It's like watching paint dry.
There's no disputing that our home form has been poor and I'm sure that's contributed to our poor home support, but we are improving. Pearson's signings have been good and our recent performances have definitely been better(I really quite enjoyed the Norwich game). Apparently Rome wasn't built in a day, it took a couple of weeks.
