I'm only an occasional poster on here, but I wanted to post now as I am shocked by the negativity around Nigel, saints prospects for the season, and substitutions on Sunday etc. As it happens I don't think he was mistaken, and even if he was -so what? We all make mistakes and the club is on a massive learning curve. But more than any of this, everyone at the club will be hurting at losing three games and nervous at what the season holds. I think we'll do well as it happens. But on top of the worry, Nigel has the huge task of being positive and keeping everyone together. But he can't do it all on his own. Saints supporters need to act premier division too and give him full backing - he's earned it. It's a shame it's so long until the next game, but when it comes let's hear plenty of support for Nigel and help him to stay positive and confident enough to keep taking risks with a young squad.
Point well made. Adkins I felt was a bit bewildered after the match. Even for him I could see a little frustration and the positivity not quite so high. He's still a positive beaming man, I think it will take mountains to beat this guy. Back Adkin's.. back Cortese!
I think if we had lost all 3 games 2-0 there would be less abuse of him here. But because we were 2-1 up in both manc games and then lost, peoples emotions are running wild. Take a step back, two years ago most of the starting team yesterday were losing to Rochdale.
Its funny how people have forgotten some of the great decisions he has made, like at man city bringing on players later on so they weren't tired
We have always been experts at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, won't happen every time, keep the faith.
I think the very reason that Saints were 2-1 up against both the Champions and the Runners-Up gives us great cause for positivityâ¢. If we had been 2-0 down in every match, then even I might have been groaning. Most of the teams in the PL will not break Saints down as those two managed to in the end. Let's get this bloody International break out of the way and we can get back to the important business of seeing how Saints have learned from their experience.
When Sharp scored away at Middlesborough, the commentator said that we haven't lost in the league after taking the lead since September 2009 (I think it was then, if not around then.) And it's now happened twice in three games, or three times in five if you include Middlesborough.
Luckily your not the manager then because taking all 3 of them off was a total misjudgement. And all you happy go lucky people are blowing the negativity out of proportion! Yes there has been a bit but there will always be negativity no matter what we do
Jos made a mistake , Clyne made a mistake , Fonte made a mistake , Nigel made a mistake so can't really blame Nigel so he still has my support . I know the 3 subs might of cost us but our defence all round is cack atm , fox lost us a point a man city , Fonte and Jos and Clyne lost us a win at home . Also KD goalkicking is ****e and Gazzanige is fairly decent but would be a little fresh for the prem .
I'd rather have PTF than you then. It wan't the substitutions that cost us the game and it can't be proven either way anyway.
Having a player like Scholes as a sub was one turning point. Failure to clear a ball and giving away a corner can't be directly blamed on Adkins. A major thing is can NA learn from any errors...yes, he can..within the limitations of the players at his disposal.
This is a big month for Nigel thats for sure. I believe he will deliver and the fans need to be right behind him. He's the best thing to have happened to the Club.
Agreed SFTW but Lambert was shattered and I don't think would have lasted 90 mins. Nigel had to change things.
This is so wrong....victim to fergie and media hype! Scholes is a great player but he was on way before we made subs and we were coping fine!!! It was the subs and the shape we took or should I say lost!
