Best Driver: Worst Driver: Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Best Team: Worst Team: Best Overtake: Funniest-moment: Most Surprising Result: Least Surprising Result: Special Mention to: Race Rating: /10
Best Driver: Rosberg Worst Driver: Maldonado/Di Resta Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): VDG did well this weekend Best Team: Mercedes Worst Team: Force India Best Overtake: well... Vettel on Webber Funniest-moment: Hamilton wrong pit box Most Surprising Result: Red bull 1-2 Least Surprising Result: Mark is #2 driver Special Mention to: Hulk, he didnt make the wrong choice Race Rating: 7/10
Best Driver: Rosberg Worst Driver: N/A, most were terrible Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Bianchi as usual Best Team: N/A Worst Team: Red Bull, disgrace of a team really Best Overtake: Alonso on Webber without a front wing Funniest-moment: Hamilton Most Surprising Result: Not only RB have a #1 driver Least Surprising Result: Vettel thinks he's god Special Mention to: Alonso, Button, Sutil Race Rating: 4/10
Best Driver: Button Worst Driver: Maldonado Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Bianchi Best Team: Mercedes/Red Bull Worst Team: Force India Best Overtake: Kimi on Hulk Funniest-moment: Vettel loosing it and Hamilton @ McLaren Most Surprising Result: Alonso misjudgement Least Surprising Result: Red Bull Special Mention to: Webber, Rosberg and Hulk Race Rating: 8/10
Best Driver: Jenson Button Worst Driver: Pastor Maldonado Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Bottas Best Team: Mercedes Worst Team: Force India/McLaren Best Overtake: Vettel on Webber... Funniest-moment: Hamilton stops in the McLaren box Most Surprising Result: McLaren having been on for a podium Least Surprising Result: Vettel wins Special Mention to: Rosberg Race Rating: 6.5/10
Best Driver: This is very hard but I'll say Webber Worst Driver: Vettel for being a total tool Best Rookie: Best Team: Despite their fuelling error, Mercedes Worst Team: Force India - who else? Best Overtake: It's not really an overtake as such but Hulk and Kimi's extended duel Funniest-moment: Marko: "This proves we do not have number one and number two drivers like Mercedes"!!!!! Most Surprising Result: McLaren were competitive Least Surprising Result: Vettel Special Mention to: Button, Sutil and di Resta all shafted by their teams Race Rating: 7/10
Best Driver: Jenson Button (if it wasn't for the last pit stop, he would've been at least 5th) Worst Driver: Pastor Maldonado (the only one who seemed unable to keep it on the road) Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): can't really think of one Best Team: McLaren (what an improvement after only 1 week) Worst Team: Force India Best Overtake: I'm gonna say Webber on Button (fantastic bit of racing from these two for the lead) Funniest-moment: Combination of Hamilton's pit stop (you know which one) and DC's commentary (I lost it at "dreaming of home") Most Surprising Result: Honestly? Vettel winning Least Surprising Result: Webber getting screwed over so that Vettel could win Special Mention to: Nico Rosberg (I was so disgusted by the orders he was given. I really hope he destroys Lewis this season. Not out of disrespect for Lewis but as a slap in the face to Ross Brawn) Race Rating: 1/10 (Been watching F1 since the late 90s. This was by far the worst race I have ever seen)
Best Driver: Button Worst Driver: Vettel Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Bianchi Best Team: Red Bull Worst Team: Force India Best Overtake: Raikkonen vs Hulkenburg Funniest-moment: Hamilton's pitstop Most Surprising Result: Bianchi matching Maldonado's laptimes for 20 laps (after which Maldonado crashed). Least Surprising Result: Another year, another pitstop failure for McLaren - ruined what should have been an amazing result for Button. Special Mention to: Webber Race Rating: 0/10
Best Driver: Button and Rosberg for me. Worst Driver: Hard to say, none stand out, if being hyper critical, I'll give award to Alonso for hitting Vettel in the rear. Best Rookie: Bianchi, 13th is a great result for Marussia, not sure Caterham will be able to top that this year. Best Team: Mercedes Worst Team: Force India, shame, they had good pace in that car today. Best Overtake: Kimi finally getting passed Hulkenberg Funniest-moment: Lewis "coming" home Most Surprising Result: McLaren, turn around could be quicker than expected. Least Surprising Result: McLaren, their return of their Pit Shop issues. Special Mention to: Hamilton, strong race, team should have done a better job monitoring his fuel usage! Di Resta, actaully was driving very well. Race Rating: 6/10
Best Driver: Vettel - Dominant in qualifying, ruthless in the race Worst Driver: Maldonado - He spent as much time on the gravel this weekend as Kubica did Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Bianchi - No one stood out in the race but Bianchi was mighty yesterday Best Team: I was going to say Force India then remembered their pitstops. The top two used team orders, Ferrari ****ed up with Alonso, everyone else had a pretty disappointing weekend. Marussia by process of elimination. Worst Team: Force India - Must be gutting for the engineers, they were genuinely quick this weekend but had to retire both cars. Best Overtake: Vettel on Webber Funniest-moment: Hamilton's pitstop. Rosberg and Brawn's conversation made me laugh: Nico: I'm so much faster, just let me go past Brawn: Negative. Nico: But... Brawn: Negative Nico Nico: *sigh* Most Surprising Result: Webber's start Least Surprising Result: Vettel being the anti-Christ Special Mention to: Romain beating Kimi with an inferior car, two boring races in a row for him, progress! Button had a very strong race. Race Rating: 9/10 - Action, drama, comedy, controversy, a wet start. Had a bit of everything.
Best Driver: Button Worst Driver: Maldonado Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Bianchi Best Team: N/A they all made fundamental mistakes Worst Team: Force India Best Overtake: Rosberg on Button Funniest-moment: Hamilton pitting at his old 'home' Most Surprising Result: The intra team battles fiasco Least Surprising Result: Webber being pissed at Vettel Special Mention to: Hamilton, Rosberg for both being magnanimous in a difficult situation Race Rating: 8/10
Best Driver: Very few stood out today, perhaps Vergne deserves a mention for recovering to score points despite a botched pitstop. Although when Bianchi gets 13th, anyone not scoring points has had a poor race. Worst Driver: Going for Pastor Maldonado because he's the only one to fail to finish through his own, rather than the teams, fault. Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Nobody outstanding, but Van Der Garde was significantly improved since Melbourne. Best Team: Operational 'Errors' rule out Red Bull, Merc, Mclaren, Ferrari, Toro Rosso and Caterham (behind the scenes), leaving Marussia, Williams, Lotus or Sauber. I'm going to say Sauber because they were improved from last week. Worst Team: Horror show for many this week, but Force India for a self-inflicted double retirement. Best Overtake: Agree with 6ft5, Webber on Button for the lead, but Massa around the outside of turn 1 was pretty good. Funniest-moment: Has to be Hamilton's stop-go gaffe. Brundle's "No come back..." commentary was funny too. Most Surprising Result: Massa only getting 5th, the car looked to have pace for better. Least Surprising Result: Webber getting screwed over. Special Mention to: Rosberg for taking team-orders manfully. Race Rating: 7/10 Poor race for nearly every team, but pretty entertaining.
Best Driver: Jenson Button Worst Driver: Pastor Maldonado Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Best Team: Mercedes Worst Team: Red Bull/Force India Best Overtake: Vettel on Webber <erk> Funniest-moment: Hammy Most Surprising Result: Toro Rosso not losing their points in the last laps Least Surprising Result: Special Mention to: Nico Rosberg, I thinkk his actions have emphasised Vettel's Race Rating: 7/10
Best Driver: Both Button and Rosberg were standout performers I thought. Worst Driver: So many...but I'll go with Maldonado Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Bianchi Best Team: Gonna go with Merc besides the team orders. 3rd and 4th is a great result for that team Worst Team: Despite the other stuff, still going to with Force India. Self-inflicted double retirement? Ouch. Best Overtake: Honestly, Vettel's move on Webber was well done despite the fact that it seemed pretty sketchy. Funniest-moment: Many moments, but Hamilton going through McLaren's pits! That was hilarious! Most Surprising Result: McLaren not looking as bad as I thought they would Least Surprising Result: Webber getting screwed over by Red Bull Special Mention to: Nico Rosberg - unfortunate that Ross Brawn made that decision to hold him behind Hamilton. He had good pace and maybe could've challenged the Red Bulls. Race Rating: 6.5/10
Best Driver: Button and Vettel Worst Driver: Maldonado again Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Bianchi Best Team: All of the front-runners made errors. But for damage limitation and for demonstrating pace no-one expected them to have, Mercedes Worst Team: Force India! Best Overtake: Vettel on Webber Funniest-moment: Hamilton, pits, nuff said Most Surprising Result: Lotus being so far off the pace Least Surprising Result: Some animals being more equal than others Special Mention to: Hulkenberg for Sauber's first points, Paul di Resta's mechanics for services to bad excuses. Race Rating: 8/10
Best Driver: Button Worst Driver: Kimi or Maldanado Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Bianchi. I think it's becoming patently obvious he's the only one with a future in the sport. The others are useless. Best Team: Red Bull Worst Team: Force India Best Overtake: Vettel on Webber. We'd have nothing to talk about otherwise, because it was dull dull dull til that point. Funniest-moment: The awkwardness in the post-race, pre-ceremony towel room. Hamilton avoided the camera and didn't even look at Vettel, Newey wanted to be anywhere else in the world when Webber stormed in and explicitly revealed the by-laws of their (with-eyes-wide-shut) organisation, and Vettel was angry and fearful of what Webber might do or say in the next few minutes. The camera man didn't know where to point the lens! Most Surprising Result: Rosberg not being allowed to pass Hamilton. He's been faster in the dry over both races and quali. I think Hamilton's set-up, which probably is to make the car feel more like his old Mclaren, is compromising the car... Or else he's not actually better than midfield drivers we all knew were talented anyway. Least Surprising Result: Red Bull don't have bad degradation. Special Mention to: Grosjean Race Rating: 2/10. Had so much potential. Wet start, Mercs vs Red Bull, Mclaren running one stop less... Then it was all revealed to be a sham. The rain left us, Mclaren made sure Button left us, the Mercedes was only competitive because they half-filled the tank, and Red Bull reign supreme by distance once more. Damn. Not looking forward to the next procession!
Best Driver: Worst Driver: Maldonado Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Bianchi, I have a feeling Best Rookie of the years is gonna be a bit of a whitewash Best Team: RBR Worst Team: Force India Best Overtake:Vettel on Webber Funniest-moment: Vettel on Webber (personally) but probably Hamilton visiting his folks on his pit-stop Most Surprising Result:Alonso out Least Surprising Result:Webber crying Special Mention to: Hulk and Raikonnen, Button, Nico R. Race Rating: 8/10
Best Driver: Seb Worst Driver: Alonso, get some glasses you tart! Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Best Team: RBR Worst Team: Ferrari Best Overtake: Seb on Webber Funniest-moment: Lewis in mclaren pits Most Surprising Result: Seb wins Least Surprising Result: Alonso blaming somebody else for his own stupidity. Special Mention to: Damon Hill for sticking up for Seb Race Rating: 8/10
And for being straight about Spa 98. When Cheezenby said "Damon, as a world champion you must've benefitted from team orders" and Hill went "Err..." I thought he was going to dodge it.
