Going to be offered a new contract, I'd like to think I played an important role in this decision by singing the super Paul McShane chant on Tuesday.
Glad to hear that he is signing a new contract. He deserves it based on the performances of the last couple of months. Having been out in the cold under successive managers he has played his way back into being a key part of the team. The various Paul McShane chants of the last few games have been good. Hope the other players don't get too offended that he seems to be the crowd favourite at the moment.
Does that mean we cant sing it anymore? Hopefully a dramatic reduction on the wage bill but he deserves a new deal
Great management by Bruce to get him playing as well as he is and well done to Macca for proving a lot of people wrong (me included)
I'm a big fan of Paul McShane. Not because of his football ability, but because of his attitude on and off the pitch. He is nowhere near as bad as some on this and other boards, have painted him and he is also nowhere near good enough for the Premiership (IMHO). Always amazes me how players are always either fantastic or absolute cack and never adequate.
There are plenty of players currently playing for Premieship clubs who are not good enough for the Premiership. Whilst I would not consider Macca good enough for a starting position, I would value him as a squad player and would offer him a contract on that basis. The question might be more whether he would accept those terms given the likelihood of him getting limited opportunities.
Let's hope his new contract is worth much less per week than his current one is. The legend that is Paul McShane, as good as his (or isn't ) is seriously overpaid (not his fault I know) but I will be much happier when he is on a wage that matches his talent and the rest of the squad.
Mcshane has had more than his fair share of money out of City and I'm sure he will gladly take a pay cut to guarantee a wage for the next few years
Fans always appreciate players who bust a gut for the team even if they are sometimes less technically adept than others. I remember Dennis Booth was similar in the late 70's / early 80s and he was a crowd favourite.
Seems to be doing something right.... http://www.hullcityafc.net/news/article/cash-conv-potm-mcshane-671167.aspx?
