He's on the TalkSport breakfast show apparently and is due to announce his move to Leicester at approx 10am.
If true I just don´t see the point. It´s not as if we have a FOR problem with loads of players out & could do with him til the end of the season. As said he´s 40 FFS. I make it we have about 42 players on our books minus, say, 6 out on loan. Do we need so many & with him being 40 too ? Get the wings sorted as we are now entering the critical stage. A stage that will make or brake all those without a contract & decide whether or not we´ll be talking about prem survival next season or not.
Hey, its kevin phillips were talking about. Mr crucial last minute shockers himself. He is a proven goal scorer, bring him.
I know why we're signing him. NP is learning from his mistakes... This time, when we crumbled and end up in the playoffs, and get a last-minute penalty to put us in the final, we will have a cool head to take the penalty Sorted!
The point is this m'duck ... Kevin Phillips would converrt half the chances that Noge misses in open play .... and is equally adept from the penalty spot ... even if not starting he'd be a great impact sub when we are in need of a goal ..
And (hopefully) a good role model for our younger lads (the proper professional that he is), not to mention the impact he may have on Vardy...
How old was teddy sheringham when he finished playing? My point is that Phillips has obviously taken care of his body to be still playing at his age is testament to his professionalism. Free transfer to give a helping hand to the end of the season.... Nothing to lose and dont understand why people would be opposed to the move.
You'd imagine he'll play a similar role to what Dickov played back when we were in League One. Pearson's done this before and it's worked, I trust him and the backroom staff with transfers. If Phillips is who's needed (I think he'll still do alright despite his age) then I'm pleased to have him.
He's a 'fox in the box' .... reads where the ball is gonna drop and doesn't panic when he gets it ... Tony Cottee springs to mind ... personally I think he'll be great ...
Sheringham was 42 when he finished playing, he holds the record for the oldest premier league (outfield) player at 40 years 272 days, last goal at 40 years 268 days. If Ryan Giggs (40 years 42 days) decides to carry on next season he'll eclipse this, he's not a bad for an 'old bloke' either. Did the announcement with appropriate drum roll happen?
