to the tune of 'Champions of Europe (We know what we are)' WE WANT HIM TO STAY WE WANT HIM TO STAY SUPER-FRANK-LAMPARD WE WANT HIM TO STAY Not visited any of these boards since the demise of the real 606, but felt compelled to post something regarding the Frank Lampard situation. If it's generally accepted that i) Frank is a living legend ii) Frank still seems like he has a number of good years left in him at the top level iii) that other legends (for their own respective clubs) such as Scholes/Giggs and more recently Puyol have been given contract extensions well into their late 30s iv) that clubs (e.g Arsenal) that don't make special provisions for their most cherised players tend to suffer a downturn v) that the likes of Emenalo etc can't see any of the above ....then the only way we can persuade the club to give Frank the contract extension is to sing the fact we want him to stay, aimed squarely at the directors box, over and over at each and every home game from now til the end of January.
Or alternatively Frank can be a real grown-up and accept a 1 year contract - the fact that he won't suggests to me that he does not have faith in his own long-term abilities.
We all want Lampard to stay and finish his playing career at Chelsea (and Cole too for that matter), but not at the expense of the club. Let's not be like United and cave in to the demands of a player which we don't agree to.
Lamps has obviously been a great asset to Chelsea over the years, and why? Because he has had strong African holding midfielders making him look better than he really is, soon has he puts on a England shirt he goes missing for 90 minites in an intrenational game he must be the worse English midfeilder i have seen and only gets picked for England because of what he does at Chealsea but unfortunetly for England and Lamps this country does not posses quality holding midfielders like the ones chelsea has had over the last few years and when Lamps plays for his country he is soon found out. Gerrard is another one like Lamps looks good at club level but for England is generally rubbish and it is a shame for England the coaches have not spotted this over the years these two good club player due to foreign intervention have been wearing the England shirt.
Christ mate what a dopey post "he must be the worse English midfeilder i have seen" (sic) is about as stupid as it gets. Most sensible observers of the game would put him near the top of the pile. Btw - he's scored over 20 goals for England mostly from open play and as far as I know he didn't have any African holding midfielders playing alongside him wearing a shirt with three lions on.
want Lamps to stay too he still has an important role to play and is our best player. He should accept the one year contract.
i think he should stay but accept that he is not going to get a long contract and no longer be a first name down on the sheet but he will want to be starting every game so it will not happen. Any body else noticed the look on his old boys face when frank is used as a sub? wont be sorry to see him mizzog off
Let me rephrase. Mata and Hazard are currently our best players but Lampard will always be a Chelsea legend. Lamps has legend status. He is still a great player.
I have always felt that Frank would take the same route as Ray Wilkins and Steve Clarke and become part of the coaching team when his playing days are over! The pity is this Emmanelo bloke seems to be calling all the shots, and while he's there it wont happen!
