Hi lads, Not often I pop by, think the last time was to say look after Jordan, and you have done that, great to see the lad coming on strong, one of our own always nice. Anyway, I digress. Borini. What do you lads think is the realistic standpoint on the lad? He's becoming a vital cog in the Poyet revolution, rarely have I seen an attacking player graft so hard, but last few weeks, as his confidence has grown at being first 11, we are seeing flashes of brilliance, he was mugging Mag defenders for fun Saturday (he has a spin similar to the McGeady turn, the Borini barrel maybe, **** knows...). Anyway, do you think he'll be wanted or needed back at Anfield? With Aspas being nowhere near good enough (I couldn't believe you went for him at the time, frankly..) is there a realistic possibility of Fabio being let go? How much would it take? We understand he is seeing a good Scouse lass, that may be a factor, but Suarez or Sturridge he is not, Coutinho can also play his role too and is a fantastic talent when on form. Anyway, keep looking after Jordan & Mig! All the best lads, between yourselves & Spurs for 4th so good luck
Thanks mate good post Borini himself has said he wants to come back to us I think I read but will always have a place in his heart for your club and fans
I personally would like to see him back next season as an option. What he lacks in technique (he is no Cissokho however) he makes up in stamina and work rate. Offers much more than Aspas and is still only 22 I think so has plenty of time to learn and improve. He was always in the right positions last season and constantly working, was just unlucky with injuries.
That's the thing mate, last few weeks, the technique is massively improved, he's starting to really look the part. Pass on that one mate, but cheers So, looks like he wants to come back, we don't mind that after all he is an Italian international who wants to play CL, but also you lads want him back. Looks likely we'll miss out on this one, but cheers lads, we've been talking about keeping him a lot on our board (and at the match, and pub, and anywhere really) so thanks for your perspective. Don't blow 4th! We all wanna see a Mackem in the Champions League!
Its not about the first eleven any more, its about having options in a squad of players. For that reason, I see Borini returning to Liverpool next season so long as he can keep his current form up for the remaining fourteen or so games. If Sunderland want to keep him, they' have to cough up since he cost us £11m and he's currently in the form of his career so far.
You were ****e yesterday, but it happens. WBA have had a bit of fight under Mel, and they are not a bad side, they have some very decent players. I think it's still Liverpools to throw away, but you have a god awful run in from here, your home games are all gonna be battles. That said, this is when CL calibre players stand up and be counted, if you want 4th you have to win these games, the fact all the big lads come to Anfield, including Spurs, makes me feel you'll get it. Gerrez, Couldn't see £8-10million being an issue, you'd expect a small hit on him, you overpaid.
That is being unfair to League One standards of football. I have seen better football in the Andorran Conference than that shower yesterday.
I think we will need him next year to help bolster the squad for CL or EL as we don't have the numbers
We did over pay but then, that doesn't come into it really. If we get top four then we'll need him (and Assaidi) next year to boost numbers. If we want him then he could possibly be worth more to us than £10m. Only Brod knows for sure though.
Don't think he is good enough for our ambitions but would rather him as back up than Aspas. Borini is definately hard working and contributes to general defence worrying... even if he can't score. He will never be a regular starter for us.
He is scoring now though mate. That said, he's not really a striker, we have been using him out on the right and that looks his natural position to me, he hits the ball cleanly, but doesn't seem to naturally think about aiming for corners etc, he'll never be a 20 a season striker. He does have some great touch though, doesn't panic under pressure, when he first came he didn't wanna hold the ball, now he loves it. For sure the loan has improved him, if we somehow beat City again and put a winners medal in his mitten, he'll head back to Liverpool with confidence bursting. As I said though, he is not Suarez, but there's no shame in that whatsoever. Funny thing with Suarez, he'd played 8 or 9 games for Ajax, I watch a lot of Dutch football, and I was saying 'we must buy this kid right now'. People said 'Dutch League, Who?, Idiot'. Sometimes, you can see in 5 minutes that a lad is special.
Great post true football fan. I just wish Henderson would take a shot sometimes. He is so shot shy. He should be scoring 8-10 goals a season. Future LFC captain.
We used to say that! Annoying thing, he's a very good striker of the ball and finisher, every time he scored for us it was supremely taken. He got 2 against Wigan in a massive game for us one year that a top class striker would have been proud of.
Thought Borini was a confidence player from the off and this has proved true - gets a run in the first 11, manager puts some faith in him, he has a couple of good games and the momentum builds. Glad he is doing well for you, great for both of us, you not so much next season when he is back with us if current form continues/improves.
