Two Simba’s key players Shomari Kapombe and Ramadhan “Messi” Singano will travel to London later this year for trials with an English Premier League side, Sunderland AFC. The two players are expected to leave for the European country to seek greener pastures shortly after the end of this season’s Mainland Premier League, according to the club’s chairman, Ismail Aden Rage. Rage said yesterday that the duo’s departure was under the agreement the clubs signed recently. He said that the players will have to wait until the league ends because they need their services in their efforts to retain the league crown. “This is an opportunity for Simba players who want to feature in big clubs in Europe to realise their dreams,” said Rage. “If you may recall, we have a good relationship with Sunderland for years. In the 1960s, our club Simba was known as Sunderland,” he said. Rage said they also have sealed an agreement with Sunderland under which Simba will be donning the jerseys donated by the England club. “Starting next season, our team will be putting on the jerseys we received recently from Sunderland. We believe that this will further strengthen our relationship with them,” he said. The England club has also promised to support the Msimbazi Street club’s leadership in its efforts to turn around the club’s fortunes.
