Sunderland are looking to solve the hangover from Asamoah Gyanâs controversial exit from the club by signing FC Sion forward Giovanni Sio in January. According to talkSPORT the Ivory coast international has caught the eye of Black Catâs Manager Steve Bruce who over the last few months has seen the departure of Gyan and most notably Darren Bent. 22 year old Giovanni Sio who has scored 6 goals in 13 appearances for Sion in the Swiss Super League, represented France at Under 16 and 17 level but wad called up for the Ivory Coast under 20âs squad in 2010. Sio scored the third goal in Sionâs 3-1 victory against Celtic in the Europa League qualifying back in August that should have seen his Club progress through to the group stages however after allegedly fielding unregistered players they were expelled. FC Sion will try to fight to keep their prized possession whom they signed from Real Sociedad in 2009, however the lure of Premier League football may well turn the head of Sio and with Steve Bruce severely lacking in the striking department will do everything to bring him to England. The way Wickham is coming on i hope we play him more with Ji also to come in and spend the dosh on a left winger and l/b
