I'll go Phillips, Kevin Ball, Bridges for cost to profit ratio. Stephan Schwartz. How much did that lot cost?

Best is simple. SKP. £350,000 represents the best value sigining from any club in the last 20 years. How many times has a £350k footballer won the European Golden Boot?

I'd even say he is the best signing in our entire history given the cost, goals, European Goldern Boot, goals in a top flight season and general impact for 6 years.

If anyone can name a better signing I'd like to hear it. He is a total shoe in for selection in any poll to find the best ever sunderland 11 as well imo.

I'd go for Superkev, where it not for Sir Niall Quinn.

Yes, he cost £1.3million, and scored less goals than Kev.

If we hadn't signed him though, where would we be now?? No Drumaville, no Ellis....

He was superb on the park, and was the main reason we came back from the dead after he'd retired.

He simply has to the one.

Oh!, Monsmush chucks a Quinny in to muddy the waters of a debate delared 'over'.

Well we have narrowed it down to two, the big guy or the little fellah in the same strike partnership.

For overall impact on the club as a whole Quinny wins hands down IMO

    It was never over amigo!

Without signing the big man, we actually might not have a club now, as we agree, he walks this!

Id go for Phillips on the field.

For an overall impact Quinn is arguably the most important figure in recent Safc history he should have a statue in his honour.

If its the best player its SKP by a country mile.

If its most important person to ever sign for the club for off the field contribution its Quinny by a universe.

However, unless I mis-understood the question, its aimed at the best signing on the pitch surely? Isnt it?

<laugh> This is a good way to get banned.

Seriously though, Bent was an amazing signing but as Cest says, Phillips has to be your best ever signing.

    ;)

well i was thinking ot the box because the OP never said the definition of "best signing"

i was thinking... high profile, most exitment.... and added bonus on scoring lots for us....

SKP and Quinny i think have to be the top ones... but i think mig in a few years mighg be up there tooo
