A good read, I'd love to able to cheer on a team full of local academy lads, seems we have several coming through who are highly regarded so lets see if they can cope with the step up.

Yep, either way even if they have to drop down a few levels to further their careers then the income from those sales will fund the academy, but with Colback and Noble things are looking positive.

We are turning out some good youngsters as of late, but some will not get a chance and will be offloaded to other clubs.

Some will make it, some won't, this is why i would love to see SAFC work in conjunction with the monkey hangers, let them take some under their wing, give them experience of league games, and the one's that stand out return.

Playing competitive league games will benefit them, rather than sitting in the wings waiting for a chance.

H/Pool get the players, help them in the league, make them money, chance of promotion etc.

I see it as win win for both clubs..

In the back of my grubby little mind, isn't that something we did predominantly in the early/mid 90's with the majority of our lads going out to Darlo/Pool? as you say can only be a good thing for all concerned.

Actually thats an excellent point, kids do get homesick, but when its just a few miles down the road, I think that would be a great help to trainee and parents.
