    Kick off at 3.

    Proposed Teamsheet:

    Bego
    Wilko - Huth - Shawx - Wilson
    Pennant - Palacios - Whitehead - Ringtone
    Crouch - Walters

Subs: Soro, Woody, Upson, Whelan, Delap, Jerome, Jones

Think we can easily pick up a point today, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see a 5-3-2 setup again. I'm going out on a limb though...

    Score: 1-2

I think the team is the same as the one that started vs Liverpool except that Jerome is in for Pennant

    Begovic

    Huth-Shawcross-Woodgate-Wilson

    Walters-Delap-Whitehead-Etherington

    Crouch

    Jerome

    Subs

Sorensen, Upson, Wilkinson, Whelan, Pennant, Palacios, Jones

Could be Jerome on the wing but the Official Site is suggesting this is how we're lining up.

I was worried about this game as we often struggle up there and we are due for a loss. However, a goalkeeper fumble and an own goal so early on, not good.

The good run had to end soon and I think Sunderland was always a likely defeat as we haven't won there since Roker Park in 1994!!!

Banned off the Matchday thread on the Stoke site. Sorry i'm not being blindly optimistic and thinking it's a foregone conclusion we'll win.

Just looks like they haven't turned up for this one. Is it too much travelling or changing the squad about? Either way they need to buck their ideas up for the second half or we'll get a proper mullering.

We've made about 8 changes for this game so I doubt we can call it a Europa League hangover.

Not liking how non-threatening we're looking this season. We haven't created a great deal in our Premier League games.

Should've started Palacios even if he wasn't fit. An unfit Palacios is still better than a fit Delap.

    Sgt,

Yes you have a good pont - we have looked very non -threatening in open play, and we have undoubtedly ridden our luck so far in keeping the clean sheets.

I am worried about this Etherington rumour, because he has been a shadow of his former self so far.

Next week could end up really nasty if we are going to concede 70% possession to Utd, because they can shoot on target from 25 yards!

It had to happen, I suppose, but it has been a pasting from a team that was bottom of the table before today and the Mackems of all teams. It will be interesting to hear Potts' verdict if he was there. I hope it's a wake-up call for Stoke. Was it team selection, tactics, tiredness after Thursday. A good start to the season so let's hope it's a minor blip.

Worried about Ethers though Sgt, if it's true!

It's not a strong rumour. It's just someone who got told a few weeks before it went to the papers about Pennant leaving his fiance and kid, who's been saying it. So no idea if it's credible, but it might explain why he's playing so abysmally this season.
