More like mid table really and does he always get a game? Genuine question, I haven't seen much of them. He's fast and strong but I never thought he's got much of a brain, if he had that he'd be very good.
He’s first choice mate. He gets a good share of assists and more than that, similar to when here he runs his opponent into the ground. I’m not saying he’s top class or owt but he’s a very good and influential player. Turns up for big games as well, never hides. We could do with 4 or 5 like him.
I don't think Jimmy Mac's that bad I just think he's an ignorant thick **** of a bloke. Like Shimmy up a height there.
It's hard to gauge Watmore, a couple of seasons ago there was hope he was going to be a next level player for you guys in the Premiership but he was held back from being given first team opportunities at first (perhaps the right choice, we'll never know) and then has had niggles stopping him being able to contribute when it would have been a real test on a long term basis. I think Watmore is a good option off the bench for many Premiership teams but I'm not convinced there are "dozens" of first team wingers who are worse than him. Even with teams who went up I'd say certainly Ritchie and Knockeart and probably March and Atsu are far more accomplished players at this stage. A season fully fit in the Championship will do him the world of good.
niggles? he tore his cruciate ligament after starting for sam regulary. he's been out over year and only played a couple under moyes before that injury. Been no niggles fella. just one big career threatening injury
I didn't mean that there are dozens of wingers not as good but that for their respective positions there are lots of players worse. If Dean Whitehead for example is getting a game in the prem then Watmore is good enough. I also consider that if someone is good enough to be signed for a prem side then they're prem standard even if they don't start. Otherwise why did they sign them if they're not capable.
Too right - he's an absolute twat of a person and a lot allow that to cloud judgement (not labelling anyone but I'm certain people on here have been guilty of it) but as a player he is very effective - a bit predictable at times but he's a decent footballer - would be awesome where we are!!
Anyone in the South Stand on Saturday? I noticed, once again, our crowd picking their favourites to support - McGeady missed an absolute sitter first half - not only didn;t score 1 on 1 but missed the target - got very little backlash (none around me) Watmore, second half, was played into the box on his left foot and squared the ball to nobody (Think Grabban was doing his hair about 30 yards out) and nobody busting a gut - they get on Watmore's back? (the ones around me anyhow) Some of our fans are a disgrace IMO (Not all - but there are a noisy few who are idiots) - wish they'd boycott the club and **** off. We all know a couple of wins (ahem) would bring a lot of people back
Absolutely. Same with Matthews. Looked nervy as hell Saturday and the crowd get on his back. I have no problem with booing but what does it accomplish? Make them more nervy and nothing else
Pah I'd have run it off! Anyway mate he does look a good player, it's just hard to tell how good until he's had a 6+ month run in the side so you can tell how good he is when he's good, how effective he is when he's having an off day (just as important) and what kind of consistency there is between the two. Aarons looked amazing for us for about a month a few seasons ago and has barely been fit enough to tie his own laces ever since. FWIW I do think Watmore is probably a good option off the bench for most Premiership sides and would have possibly preferred to sign him than J Murphy we got in the summer - but time will tell.
