We have a good base for a team with Gordon (When fit), Bramble, Catts, Sess, Gyan. Young prospects like Noble, Colback, Campbell & Meyler will play and get better next season. We need to address our lack of width in the team, even more so now our right winger has gone. We NEED a left winger, right winger & left back just as much strikers in my opinion.
yes we have a good base but how long before they also get sold and line the pockets of the yanks slowly are stars whether there whant too or not will be sold and replaced with sub standard player shall we bet and see who is next to go for big money maybe ghan eh i am livid with the way these players have been sold when we should building a team
We got jibes of a selling club after the Carroll deal.. Fact is £35mill was a stupid amount and Carroll was nowhere near that value.. and no sane man would turn that down... it didnt mean we are a selling club.. it is also a fact Henderson isnt worth 20mill and thats a price way too good to turn down.. it doesnt mean you are a selling club either. You just will get the jibes because you dished them out yourselves. just take it on the chin you will see you have got the better deal after the dust has settled.
Supply and demand ... someone comes and offers you £20,000 grand for your car you know is only worth £10,000 ... what you gona do?
If we got £20m for Henderson, that means 2 things straight away. 1 We will have to pay above -expected fees because of the hike this has generated 2 When we look at buying players, selling clubs will expect extortionate money from us cos we have a sackload. No-win situation.

Happens year on year mate, don't think you can single out this one sale for the inevitable increase in players values. Does make you wonder though with Man U rumoured to be after Modric, Young & Downing supposedly wanting away from Villa. Tevez undecided on his future. How much are they going to sell for??
I think we would have done marginally better dependant on his fitness. But i believe if the 35mill we got for him.. if spent wisely will make us a better side then we were with him. I think the same will go for sunderland if the 20 mill is spent wisely...
Na Newcastle were a better side with the selling of the main striker who scored the majority of the goals. Prefer to think season would have been better if one of our better players managed to play all season (even tho was injured most of second half of season). As for Henderson it seems to be a good deal to me cos I think he's wildly over-rated (-obviously top managers don't though!!) and if Dalglish the fool wants to pay oveer the top for young English players then good. Seems to have been a huge shift in opinion at Sunlun though in last 6 months-- were previously well run, great owner who doesn't intefere, best chairman in the league and an up n coming manager. Now it seems to be falling apart - with the poor form, unrest over attendances, Bent n Hendo sold--- thought you lot had a log term plan-- if so stick to it.
Let's see where we are by the end of the window. You have to speculate to accumulate and all that. Ellis must be pleased though Bent and Henderson have paid off so well, so he knows buying quality in and selling on at the right time and price is good - as long as we keep bringing in better quality of course.
£20m for Henderson is a hell of a deal and we have a ready made replacement in Seb Larsson. Also if we get Nzogbia we will have a far better balance to the side. Henderson was a good athlete but provided very little else. We also have the Bent money too plus the extra premier league money after leapfrogging the unwashed. Total sum equals a very impressive warchest for the close season. I'm very happy with the outcome and i'm really looking forward to the types of players we can attract now.
