Sunderland bid £2.5million plus Modibo Diakite for Alonso 23-year-old spent second half of last season on loan at the club By SIMON JONES PUBLISHED: 21:30 GMT, 20 July 2014 | UPDATED: 22:34 GMT, 20 July 2014 Sunderland have made an improved bid of £2.5million plus Modibo Diakite for Fiorentina left-back Marcos Alonso. The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the club, making 16 appearances in the Premier League. He also started both League Cup semi-finals against Manchester United, and the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City at Wembley in the final. Part exchange: They have also offered Modibo Diakite as part of the deal But he did feature heavily in their dramatic late run that helped them to avoid relegation to the Championship. Alonso moved to Fiorentina last summer after three years at Bolton Wanderers, but has so far been unable to break into the first team He started his career at Real Madrid, making 39 league appearances in the B team and one sole substitute appearance for them in La Liga in 20
Well worth it. The lad's worth 6-7 at least in my eyes so that's a snip considering their wages probably aren't all that different.
He's changed his twitter profile to him in an safc shirt still my favourite. #SAFC @marcosalonso03 pic.twitter.com/EItnqJA7Ta
we should offer more and forget Borini, look elsewhere for a striker, Wicks for instance would stay if the money was right, he has far more potential than Borini, who we dont really need anyway not at 14m.
Sunderland have submitted two bids to sign Alonso, which have involved incorporating defender Modibo Diakite in a part-exchange deal, and reports in Italy over the weekend suggested the Black Cats had made an improved third offer. “It’s been an ongoing situation. It’s taking a bit longer than I expected,” said Poyet when asked about Alonso, who shone for Sunderland after arriving on loan in the January window. “But you need to have everything in place. It doesn’t just depend on us, it depends on other people as well. “You need to negotiate and that’s up to Lee (Congerton, sporting director) and the recruitment system doing their work.”
Shut up man - Fiorentina might be viewing this post and put the price up!! (Although I agree with you)! We want to lopwer the price we have to pay them not raise it man!
Would prefer alonso mate, read this morning rose could be off to hull, if he is available i hope we are sniffing about also
This would be good business taking into account Diakite's wages. Cheap at the price! Mebbe this is why we can offer so much for Borini. Alonso on the cheap and 3 free transfers...
What would you do to speed it up? Pay 4m plus Diakite? **** off! It's our right and their right to drive a hard bargin, the bids are close enough to come to agreement, don't worry fella, It'll get sorted. We want primary targets this year, we all know how badly going for secondary targets went last season.
Bri you seem the right man to ask, have Sunderland ever put a 'right to buy' clause into a loan contract? It seems the same thing happens to you lot every year, surely it's got to have happened enough now to teach your recruitment team?
Sunderland should of put a right to buy clause in the Alonso loan deal & we wouldn't be dealing with this rubbish now. we did it with Celustka so why not Alonso. we got a bunch of monkeys running Sunderland pal
