It`s not just the chunk off the wage bill getting rid of the amount of players we have, Sky pay app £7.5 million for each Premier League finishing position, the Champions get about £15 million. If SAFC finished top, and had sellouts for the home games, we would get app. £20 million, a bit of a pipe dream? Well that`s the same as ES negotiated for shirt sponsorship! Brilliant! more sellouts and a top ten finish will be a financial bonus, That`s the way to do it! We have the financial clout now to push the boat out, not a big boat mind you, but certainly bigger that we have had before. onwards and upwards, to infinity and beyond, ie champions league.
Sky pay 40 million to each club for TV, the PL pay 16 million to the champions, going down by £800,000 a place (last year anyway) Liverpools shirt deal is 25 million a year, Man U are in talks on a £600,000,000 deal over X years, Man City is £400,000,000 over 10 years (including other crap). Before that, Man U`s income is £280,000,000 year, ours is £80,000,000 ish We still have a hell of a long way to catch up. Yes its great we have got this deal and everything else thats going on, but dont be fooled that we can dance with the big boys now,we are still a hell of a long way behind them.
lol sorry. only saving grace is the 25 man squads and the min of 8 home grown players in that squad, thats the same for all teams, but i have tobe honest and say over a sprint (1 game) everyone can beat everyone, but over a marathon (full season) it will still be the big boys up there (and no, that does not include Newcastle, they will be 7th at best next season imo).
Roger, I like your posts better when you are high and a tail between the legs is a good thing. Its when its between another man's legs its bad, ask Tash.
