This looks like a key fixture in terms of assessing our improvement. Sunderland may have looked pretty poor this season, but they have still only lost two out of seven away games. They're hard to beat, even if people say they completely lack creativity. They're looking a bit like this season's Aston Villa. Recently we have shown that we can be very well-organised when we meet teams who are willing to play fairly openly because they figure they can beat us. Against Sunderland, though, we will be expected to take the initiative and it will be interesting to see how well we can do it. This strikes me as a very similar fixture to the QPR and West Ham ones earlier in the season, and I'm hoping we've improved enough to win this type of game. Three points and a real cushion would be wonderful to take into the run-up to Christmas.
I think it's about time we started putting chances away and this could be the one.... I have a sneaking suspicion we will win this one convincingly...
Fair comment Thai but I must admit I was unaware of their 'decent' away form in terms of only losing two from seven. Despite me thinking that we could win convincingly I am now thinking that it could be a very dour 0-0 or perhaps us just nicking it. It is on 5Live of course for those iof us who cannot get to CR and I fear it may be a nervy afternoon's listening. The thing is as Thai points out, a win and we are so much more comfortable and possibly event top half or thereabouts. It would also break the record as best ever run in the Premier League with 8 unbeaten and it could be 4 wins and 4 draws - 16 from 24, pretty dammed decent!
It's one of those games really. They have good away form; we have only been beaten once at home. It's a game that we will need to be on top form for the whole match, and it will be tricky. I just have the feeling that after two difficult away games our lads will be really ready for this game at home, on camera and under the spotlights. Can't wait!
Oh how I would love this to happen for once! When was the last time we had a truly comfortable win? I guess Villa last year? Lets get a goal in the first 10 minutes from say, Snodgrass, who then has super high confidence for the rest of the game, rendering him unplayable, and allowing him to carve out chance after chance for Holt to put away.
Why am I getting any credit for anything said above? I'll let my ol' mate in Vietnam take it all I know we are close but still separated by another country
unless we are on top of our game, a la Arsenal or Man Utd, this has a dour game written all over it. we didn't create many clear cut chances on Wed (i know we are at home this time) and sunderland will be set up defensively i'd have thought. both teams don't have many goals between them - so i predict another binary scoreline - 0-0 or 1-1. I hope i am wrong and we get the win.
It will be a dour game - tight, tense with few chances. We will need to be patient and take the game to the Mackems I think - it could be a game when we make a couple of changes at half-time or early in the second half perhaps (Bennett and Jackson on maybe to give us some extra zip) and I think it will be goalless or a one goal game.
Am I the only one who hates these 4 pm games on a Sunday?? It really ****s up the whole day. How I dream of Saturday 3pm KO.
Was so pleased to have a game on my birthday seemed like a good excuse for a few drinks plus the game now it's the day after, late in the day and damn cold! A win required to keep us warm dancing on the terraces!
I have throughly enjoyed the 5.30 kick offs against Manure and Arsenal (obviously winning helps a lot) but as the nights draw in they have felt like the closest we are going to get to having a proper night fixture. Carrow Road under the floodlights is a special place to be, expecially when it's rocking. By 4 o'clock the lights will be on and hopefully we can get the atmosphere pumping once again.
