Chelsea now out of the cup. If Man U, Man C or Arsenal win the FA Cup and we finish 6th, and Aesenal win the league cup, do we qualify for Europe?

If you did qualify, would you have a proper go at it or treat it with contempt like some seem to?
It's like the carling cup,it amazes me that the likes of everton villa sunderland etc who won't win the prem but equally won't be involved at the bottom, don't prioritise these competitions.
I went to see city away at west brom and I think we deliberately got beat there, the lack of effort was astonishing.
Hope Niall doesn't spit his dummy out as he's a great guy,a true gent fondly remembered at city with his disco pants

Being the fan I am, and us being who we are, I think SAFC would breath fire and life into the Europa League. I for one, but the whole place, would love - LOVE to be playing Ajax, Lille, Hamburg, etc etc in competitive matches! I was there . .in our 2 proper European games - v Vasas Budapest and Sporting Lisbon. I want more.!

We need two sides who have already qualified for Europe to contest the FA Cup final and Arsenal to win the Carling Cup for seventh place to get into Europe. However its all irrelevant as we will be lucky to finish top half of the table. If we did somehow qualify it would have a detrimental effect on league form IMO.

I've gotta argue Spoony. Europe is what we aspire to. This year we will finish top 10. I think even top 7. Therefoe a Man U v Man C or V Arsenal final would be class! If we dont aim for it, that is detrimental.

Dont get me wrong. I would love us to qualify for Europe. Im actually holding back some holiday days at work on the off chance we qualify as I would love to travel and watch us away on the continent. We need to get the next four games out the way (I think we will be lucky to get a point) and then see what happens in the remaining fixtures.

An SAFC supporter is (by nature and past experience) expecting the worst to befall us, and I can understand a little reticence to get carried away. Normally I would be firmly in the "glass half-empty camp" but for once in my adult life, I'm in the "galss half-full brigade"!

We've got a break from the PL - a chance for players to have a break, recharge their mental and physical batteries, opportunity for players injured to regain fitness and new boys to get up to speed. I'm very positive about the next few games as the other teams are just about all involved with other comps. Europe is a distinct possibility, it may not come to pass but I am optimistic <ok>
