starting to think too much mouth Gus Poyet admits he is racking his brains to find a way to get the best out of Adam Johnson. The Sunderland boss faces a selection poser over whether to restore the out-of-touch winger to the starting line-up for todayâs home FA Cup third-round tie with Carlisle. Puzzled Poyet canât fathom why Johnson, who has lost his place in the England squad, is struggling to recapture the form that earned him two big-money moves. Manchester City signed him from Middlesbrough for £7million nearly four years ago before he returned to his native North-East with the Black Cats in a £10m August 2012 deal. Poyet reckons managerial upheaval on Wearside has not helped 26-year-old Johnson, who has only started two of the last nine games in all competitions. Martin OâNeill, who signed Johnson, was sacked last March before Paolo Di Canioâs ill-fated six-month reign and Poyetâs arrival. Poyet said: âIt has not been easy for Johnno to find his form consistently. You never know in games like this one with Carlisle. âYou think they should be good games to play in because of the level of the opposition, but it could be the other way around. âWeâre trying to get the best out of him. One way is to play him until he gets it, and another is to put him on the bench and give him 20 minutes when the opposition is tired or we need extra quality. âSomehow itâs not working so we need to find a different solution. There have been so many things going on in the last two years at this club. Itâs not been easy for a personality like Johnno to understand everything. âPeople think because he came from Manchester City and cost a lot of money, that he is the one who needs to make the difference in every single minute with every single ball. But it doesnât work like that. âHe plays a certain type of game and we need to do better to give him the option to perform. âWeâve not found that way because the team have not been consistent enough. âThere are plenty of things we need to work on for Adam to take advantage of. But then, of course, itâs his responsibility. Hang a ****ing pint on a stick a yard off his forehead and watch the ****er run. He couldn't give a ****, that's why he can't find form, he has enough money for the rest of his life & has given up on his career. Such ****ing talent, if completely one sided. Wasted.
This, if he starts tomorow ahead of the likes of Watmore and DMK who work their bollocks off just to get a chance ill be very disappointed.
I WANT TO SEE Watmore Karlsson Ba Maviras and Cabral given their chance along with some of the under 21s lets face it they couldnt do much worse and may even force their way in the team
He's been found out in a team where he isn't surrounded by class players. He has no pace and will only ever try to use his left foot, most of the time he is far too easy to defend against. He isn't the player I thought we'd bought Given that he's our top earner I think we should try and sell ASAP. Bring in some wingers who can use either foot and have some pace
I'd like to see Watmore and Mavrias especially. Not too keen on Cabral, there has to be an attitude issue there Remember MK Dons in the league cup? He was awful. I don't think he took the game seriously, maybe thought himself above playing MK Dons.
been saying for the last eighteen months, hes crap on big money show him the door and free up the wages ,offers no more than a token gesture ,if anybody thinks he will play for england again get your head tested
Id start him today and if he doesn't seriously impress i hope we try and offload him. Our big problem is a lack of pace and this is clear in Johnson Gardner larsson (get rid)
He needs to take him off the anti-depresants or GUS needs to give a big man hug. I cant believe that he can be this miserable after winning a game, scoring one and getting an assist for the OG He didn't smile once during the whole interview. http://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2014/january/aj-on-cup-tests Compare and contrast with this lad http://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2014/january/watmore-reflects-on-unbelievable-debut So pleased for the lad - could prove to be the best of our summer signings.
Good to see him score to today, and the performance, etc, but getting back to the original point, about performing in the league every week, how about a kick up the arse?
