Sunderland boss O'Neill facing Ryan Noble decision Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill faces a decision over young striker Ryan Noble. Despite an excellent record in the reserves, Noble was unable to force his way into O'Neill's plans last season and left for a short loan at Hartlepool at the end of the season. Pool have registered their interest in re-signing him but there has been interest from the Championship, the Scottish Premier League and even one of Sunderland's top-flight rivals in signing the England Under-19 forward, so he is not short on options. The Journal says Noble's first choice is to stay at the Stadium of Light and have one last crack at making it at his boyhood club. hope we give him another crack, as under Bruce he didnt have a chance
Seems reasonable to me. Would love a home grown lad here but no manager seems to fancy him with a decent run out.
There must be a reason why he hasn't played. Yes he can score for fun in the reserves, but its a big step up to first team. Also what was his record like at Pools...something like played 10 scored 1??? Correct me if I'm wrong. However hardly prolific in League 1. Also when on loan to Derby and Watford he hardly played..... I want the guy to have a chance........... but I cannot see it.
It's this local tag thing again, if he was from out of area there wouldn't even be a thread about him, most fans are desperate for local kids to do well, but the bottom line is he is not good enough for the premiership or if we are being brutally honest probably the championship as well.
Yeah I agree with this. The local lad tag deffiantly makes us want him to be a sucess, however everything suggests he won't be a sucess. Like I said he never really set the world alight in League 1. He doesn't have the right build, even at 20 years he should be filling out a bit. Personally if I was in his position I would be hammering the weights, trying to bulk up. If you look at him, he is far too lightweight - even pacey strikers have a built of build.
