Sunderland boss O'Neill doesn't want to lose Gordon Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Sat, 04/07/2012 - 10:45 Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill wants to keep hold of Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon. The 29-year-old, signed in a record £9million deal by Roy Keane from Hearts five years ago, is out of contract at the end of next month and looks certain to quit Sunderland after falling behind Simon Mignolet in the pecking order. OâNeill said: "Ideally I would love to give Craig a game. His contract runs out at the end of the season and he can either be in a great position or wondering what will happen to him if he hasnât played. He has been out for a long, long time and itâs getting back into the side to prove his point. Thatâs been the difficulty. "If our wage bill could allow it, I wouldnât mind having the three, but Iâm not so sure that players of that ability wouldnât want to be playing in somebodyâs first team. And I would understand that." decisions decisions what the **** to do
Think this one will be taken out of our hands Rog. He's a good enough keeper that someone will take a chance on a good contract for a year, with an option for 2 more if he stays fit. We probably will offer him reduced terms, and no guarantee of football, whereas he would be first choice at 8 or 9 in the Prem, at least (fit & on form)
