The Black Cats defied the odds and stayed up last season after winning four of their last five games. However, Gus Poyet’s charges have failed to reproduce that form following the summer break, taking just four points from their opening five games. The Black Cats also lost 2-1 to Stoke in the Capital One Cup in midweek, but Poyet will at least be buoyed by a first clean sheet in the Premier League against Burnley the game before. Opponents Swansea have enjoyed a fine start to the season under young boss Garry Monk, winning five of their seven matches in all competitions. After posting three opening Premier League wins over Manchester United, Burnley and West Brom, the Swans slumped to successive defeats to Chelsea and Southampton. Sunderland boss Gus Poyet said there wasn't much between his side and Burnley in their 0-0 draw But Monk’s side bounced back to winning ways with a creditable 3-0 Capital One Cup win over Everton on Tuesday and will go into this fixture full of confidence. We need a win from somewhere and this could be it, all out attack is my advice, if we fail, go down with all guns blazing, we just might surprise a few and kick start a run.
I'm up for this one and looking forward to it, no reason why we can't beat Swansea at home. Man Utd & Spurs couldn't beat us ...... 2-0 to the Lads.
'It is now up to us to make that extra bit of quality, decision making or belief to make the difference because it is there and it is very close.' Gus Poyet believes Swansea City have an advantage over their Barclays Premier League rivals due to their tactical continuity. The Welsh side have become renowned for their slick playing style since their rise to the top flight, and Poyet hailed the impact of Roberto Martinez who he believes initiated their continued success. Speaking to safc.com, Poyet explained that Martinez’s foundations have continued to benefit the Swans throughout their time in the Barclays Premier League. “They have an advantage because other than the top seven the difference between teams is the quantity of time they have been playing a certain way, because you only have to add pieces to that puzzle to make you better. “I think it is great advantage what Swansea have been doing from the time of Roberto Martinez, because he influenced a lot in the potential of the team that Swansea play week in week out. “They have a certain way of playing and they buy players to fit that system, so they have got ahead of most of the teams in the bottom 13, as we call it." The Swans will not be short of firepower when they visit the Stadium of Light of Saturday, with Wilfried Bony returning from suspension to support the likes of Nathan Dyer, Wayne Routledge and Bafetimbi Gomis. However, Poyet will likely also be able to call upon attacking reinforcements, with Connor Wickham, Steven Fletcher and Emanuele Giaccherini all looking to be back in contention. “I think there is very little between us and the rest,” explained Poyet. “It is very tight so we are competitive and we have had opportunities to win most of the games. “It is now up to us to make that extra bit of quality, decision making or belief to make the difference because it is there and it is very close.” He continued: “The players are on track and a few of them are back so we are happy with that, but there are still a few players with a few issues. “When you have a squad to pick from with options you need to manage the side because there is time for everyone.” http://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2014/september/pre-swansea-h-presser Press conference ^^^^^^
Nice match thread. I see Lawro refuses to say we'll win even against a team without one yet. We're playing well right now and think (hope) we'll edge this 1-2 but Fletcher always seems to do well against us and Bony's not firing yet so you never know.
I have little confidence for tomorrow tbh, bony was tge best player i saw at our place last season without doubt, gutted he's back
Swansea have been beaten twice as often as Sunderland, lost at home while we haven't, had a man sent off while we haven't, conceded 4 in one game which we haven't and have lost their last 2 Premier League games which we haven't. 'You never know' ........ ffs, don't get carried away son, Swansea finished half a dozen points ahead of Sunderland, last season, partly because our players had been on the piss for a week before we played you at home
It boils my ****ing piss when we're all supposed to be terrified of Swansea ****ing City and Gary Monk
Wow, you're rude. Try showing some class and a little manners if you're capable. Those "good points" you make are valid, of course they are. I was simply making the point that you haven't won a game yet (a fact), and that we've played well in every game so far. Chelsea went up a gear and wrecked us whereas we lost Bony first half to two yellows v Saints and lost the game in the 80th minute. Your recent record against us is shocking too. All these are facts, not opinion. Of course you can win tomorrow, that's football and that's why we love it but on form we should get something. If you win I just hope we make you work your socks off for it - that's all any football fan can hope for. It's not arrogance and it's not a question of being "terrified" and nobody has suggested you should be. No need for nastiness, no need for argument so cool that piss of yours. Good luck after tomorrow.
So try coming onto another club's board without a sarcastic because we haven't won a match. Why say 'you never know' as if you're expected to win when you've lost 2 games already? You didn't play well against Southampton, in my opinion, you were poor. You had much less possession, 2 shots on target and 2 corners in 90 minutes. You also had around 19,000 supporters so your 'wonderful football' doesn't seem to interest many people. Try showing some manners yersel before you start accusing other people. Now **** off, give your thick head a shake and come back to start again
