Sunderland AFC Vs Stoke City Official Sunderland Not606 Match Thread please log in to view this image Sunderland have a hard act to follow in the League Cup after their remarkable run last season, which saw them forget their Premier League struggles and record victories over Chelsea and Manchester United on the way to Wembley. Gus Poyet's side, who led against Manchester City in the final before eventually going down 3-1, find themselves without a league win this season and the manager is eager for the players who haven't been part of his plans so far to seize their chance against Stoke. "I think it's a good opportunity for a few players to show me that I've made a mistake and they should be playing; the ones who are going to make us win the game in the Premier League next week," said Poyet. Stoke, usually known for their strong home form, have found it hard going at the Britannia this season. Yet on their travels they are unbeaten - including a victory over Manchester City - and assistant manager Mark Bowen says they can continue that run at the Stadium of Light. "We are quite confident with our away form going forward," he said. "We will go to Sunderland with a positive outlook to try and win the game." Can imagine itll be a very similar team with maybe 1 or 2 changes but id make more. We need to give some of the fringe players a chance to stake their claim. Id go; -----------------Pantilimon----------------------- Jones-------Coates------Brown-------Van Aanholt -------------Bridcutt---Cattermole----------------- Buckley-----------Gomez-------------------Alvarez -------------------Altidore------------------------- 8 changes but still a potentially capable line up. And could put a rocket up a few who think they are guaranteed starters.
Wouldn't risk Alvarez me like, He's had a knock, I'd leave him till the weekend and give Mavrias a run out instead.
Our ticket office are a bunch of idiots!! Went to get mine, my dads, my brothers and 2 kids tickets. Put my card in the reader and it said "transaction complete... Please remove card" the lass behind the counter said "it hasn't gone through will you do it again?" You can imagine the reaction!! Got a written note saying that if it had taken the money then it'd be refunded. Tried again and it had barred my card. Also causing me to be unable to get my sons birthday present, Needless to say I'm a little pissed off!! But I have got the tickets for tomorrow after a close to blowing up in the ticket office moment!
Great thread, the other boards will be paying you to do their's soon I'd tried to get up for this but will have to make it Saturday ....... hopefully there'll be a stream. Poyet is till sorting things out, in his head, after a difficult end to the season and transfer window. After the horrendous time, when he first arrived, I can excuse him a little caution. I reckon we'll see a much more adventurous approach for this game.
It will be interesting to see how many of the tens of thousands who clamoured for cup final tickets turn up for this one.. No offence meant to fans who live out of the area..

Pity really as a 35k crowd tonight would be canny for this match. I'm going with my boy, my Dad, my Brother and his son. So there's 5 onto whatever the attendance would be without the family
I'm juggling large debt repayments with an anniversary weekend away and my next two Season card payments so just can't afford it. In fact if it wasn't for free lifts to the sol I'd have put my seat on stub-hub as can't even afford the train with my rail card, I'm really that skint till Christmas.
I think this is a very important game, we need to remeber how to win against PL opposition, it's a tough, close game but I fancy we will shade it. Have to say I'll be surprised if there's more than 25k, and as RAW says many of the stay aways will have been those whinging about not getting to Wembley. That said, I will openly admit I'm unable to attend tonight as I'm in the middle of recruitment, and will be interviewing, last one is 7pm, so will be close to 8 when I'm done.... I will take any insults or flak you wanna chuck, then ignore it, and get on with my day
