Sunderland welcome Leeds to the Stadium of Light in the Championship. Last time out Sunderland beat West Brom and Leeds beat Blackburn. The Black Cats moved up to 6th and are 11 points off 3rd placed Leeds. Mike Dodds will take charge of this game while the club continue their search for a new head coach. Alex Pritchard could start after his impressive display from the subs bench. Alese and Pembele are back in training but will need time in the U21s before appearing in the match squad. Leeds, who are now unbeaten in seven matches and have won nine from 11, took the lead with a fine low strike from Dan James, his seventh of the season and was the first and only effort on target during an even first half. Summerville's ninth goal of the season, from Archie Gray's delightful pass, doubled United's lead. Joffy Gelhardt returns to the Stadium of Light and will be looking to score against his former team mates. Sam Byram went off with a hamstring injury and is out for a minimum of two games. Patrick Bamford missed the last game due to an illness. Ian Poveda is unavailable due to an international call up. Mike Dodds: "I'm just really happy for everyone at the football club. The most important thing was getting the three points. "I didn't like the first half. I didn't like the level of control they had - and we had to tweak a few things. But, for a large spell, we controlled the second half. "Alex Pritchard did exactly what I expected him to do and impact the game. A free-kick and a clever little reverse pass to set Dan Neil free." "We'll be organised we'll be fully prepared. It's a quick turnaround so we are going to have to change one or two things. "I've already addressed the players in terms of I want them to enjoy the moment but I also want to win on Tuesday. I've just said to them, 'enjoy the next hour or so but make sure we are focused and ready to go tomorrow morning and make sure the result on Tuesday is another positive one. Daniel Farke: "Two really good possession sides and you have to accept that both sides will have their spells where they dominate the game in possession, but also to be especially switched on in the moments when you win the ball to be there and use quick counter-attacks. This is what we did more or less for both goals. They were ice-cold finishes. "I'm especially pleased that we travel back with a clean sheet against a really good and dangerous side. We didn't allow them to have much. They had their spells in possession but in terms of big chances, there was not too much. "It was important after a few weeks where we have conceded one goal, sometimes even two goals, today to return absolutely rock solid defence with a clean sheet. It's a really good performance and a massive win for us. I'm pretty delighted." I’m going for another 2-1 home win Live Stream: This game is live on Sky Sports Football Also available to overseas fans: https://safc.com/news/team-news/live-video Ha’way the Lads
No expectations for this game. Would take a point now. The key will be how we cope defensively as they have some great players for the level. 1-1, late Clarke equaliser.
Pritch starts imo. Leeds are flying so would be delighted with a 1-1. ****ing Haway the Lads yer Bastards. Straight into these ****s.
We've no recent history against these but this one will be tough, but aren't they all in this league. If the lads show the same determination as yesterday we can get a decent result. HTL.
Top write up again RTB. The strengths of Leeds look daunting. We’re going to need to be right up for it and very sharp. It’s going to be a really good challenge for Dodds and the lads.
I do love Pritchard coming on when the game is opening up. He is the perfect player to bring on. You are pretty sure he can affect a game late on.
If you aspire to be the best you have to the best or at least what’s in front of you, away again so another one I’m missing but will be tuned in big style for this Ive gone for a draw on the vote (head ) but hopefully we pinch a 2-1 win ( heart ) COME ON
Well was ment to be away with work still for this one but plans have changed and I fly home tomorrow morning, get to Newcastle airport around 16:00 straight home drop bags off quick shower and straight to the match. last time I did that was for the Southampton game btw hawayyyyyyy the lads
Great thread as always @RTB thank you Will take a point now, but got a feeling the lads will be right up for this one. Love a night game even though my dad usually doesn't come to them because of the late finish, but he's coming to this one as he hates Leeds with a passion. Hope we get right stuck into them from the first minute and don't let them settle at all
Leeds are a very strong team and have some fantastic individual players at this level. If they are in the mood, I do think it will a big ask to get the win. They seem free scoring at the moment. That said, the win on Saturday has relaxed things a little and players have soen freedom to do their thing. Will go for a biased 1-1.
I know two brothers and one is West Brom, the other Leeds. So I'm hoping to knock on their door in me Sunderland shirt after this game
