Sunderland welcome Huddersfield Town to the Stadium of Light in the Championship. Last time out Sunderland lost to Plymouth and Huddersfield drew with Southampton. The Black Cats dropped to 9th place after losing 2-0 at Home Park, the visitors had the highest number of shots in the Championship games but failed to find the back of the net. Tony Mowbray has hinted that he could make a few changes as players return from injury with Mason Burstow, Chris Rigg and Hemir all pushing for game time. Huddersfield held Southampton at home, Ben Jackson's late goal gave Huddersfield Town a battling point against promotion-chasing Southampton. The away side took a deserved lead when Saints skipper Adam Armstrong finished well at the near post in time added on at the end of the first half from Stuart Armstrong's low cross. Darren Moore already had serious injury concerns before the game and was only able to name 7 substitutes before striker Kian Harratt had to go off early in the first half after pulling his hamstring. Tony Mowbray: "Two out-of-the-blue strikes, really goals that we've scored ourselves, their wide players coming in on the opposite foot and bending it into the far corner. "I'm not sure how many shots we had, well into the twenties I'd imagine, and we must have had 15 or 20 corners, but we have to keep working on it. "It's OK me saying we've got young strikers - they have to keep working on it, they have to find the confidence. "It's a bit frustrating because we seemed to be the dominant team today. We came here and did what we would have expected, but we have to score goals - we have to put the ball in the opposition's net." "Mason Burstow was injured yesterday but will be back and playing," said Mowbray. "He should be training on Monday." "All the players will be getting an opportunity to play [in the coming weeks]. Mayenda will play, Aouchiche will play, Ba will play - all of the young players will play. Hemir has to get opportunities to play. Let's wait and see how we do." Darren Moore: "The way we went about the game, I thought the boys were unjust to go in at half-time a goal down. "It's just a lapse of concentration. I didn't alter my team talk, it was just for us to get higher up the pitch. "We could've capitalised better on some chances, but I can't criticise the players because they are doing the right things. "We had a glorious chance with Sorba Thomas and we had the momentum going forward. "On the balance of the play, we deserved that today. We got the performance right today in terms of how we managed the game." It seems that Huddersfield are one of the few teams that have more injuries than us. I’m going for a 3-1 home win. Thanks mate for another brilliant thread. Pleased you have posted it now. Bit too much doom and gloom after Saturday. Lets all focus on the next game now, the last one is long gone. Fancy us to put a few wrongs right now. Unlike othera no interest in who scores, just that we do and play with panache. 3-0 and a happy board again.
Data wise, they say these things even themselves out. And off that it'll not be long before someone takes a pasting off us like. All those shots, misses, saves and post/bars can't go on forever. We'll have another day like Southampton where everything goes in. Hoping for a reaction, again backing Rusyn to score.
If there ever was a time to go 2 up top it's this game. Time to take the handbrake off and go for it Patterson Hume Ballard Huggins O'Nien Roberts Neil Pritchard Clarke Rusyn Mayenda **** it.
No suprise there then. Im not really sure what use he is to us at the moment to be honest. His unavailability cost us big time against Luton in the playoffs and so far this season he's contributed nowt on the pitch. Alese has one outstanding injury so i have abit more sympathy for him. Cirkin is literally made from Wheatabix
quite like the look of that team, we obviously need to make the most of our dominance in games as we are currently proving that being the dominant side does not mean wins. onien gets a chance to see what he can do as a CDM, pritchard, rusyn and mayenda can be a very effective press, no time like the present to have a little experiment in a home game. ...and, cheers again RTB...
Just cannot see us scouring at the minute if we persist with the same setup. Surely this is the game to change tactics and play 2 actual strikers up front together.
He's played in 8 games, 3 clean sheets and 1 assist against Ipswich. He's a good player - I'd rather give him time to recover properly.
It’s a game we should be winning but I’m not massively confident. Feel Mowbray needs to freshen things up.
