Not as a player though: “It’s sad to see what happened to my old club, but the club’s spirit will bring it back. It’s not a club made for the lower divisions. I plan to help in any small way I can after I hang up my boots. “I’m planning a lot of things when I retire. I have plans to start an airline company, and that’s getting closer. I have investments in Africa, too, but I’ll always be in football. You never know, I may play a role for Sunderland soon. I would love to help.”
He was a truly great player, loved watching him play, for us or Ghana, and if he had stayed in England, who knows how far his talent would have taken him. Not sure what he could do for us now though, even so I wish him well, in whatever he undertakes.
Good player, but hardly a club legend or anything. Buggering off to the Gulf to play in front of 500 people every week has hardly endeared him to us. WTF does he think he can contribute?
I thought the bloke recently declared himself bankrupt citing his kids werent his. Methinks this is cos his wife is trying to claim half his fortune. So am I right in assuming his help would not be in monetary terms?
Whilst we all know why he left, in the article he comes over as he really cares, he says he loved his time here and the fans, and wants to see Sunderland back where they belong. The benefits he could bring would be training the new strikers, like Jermaine did with Maja as that didn't turn out too bad.
wait and see Vince, he said he will retire and offer help, he has a love for the club and wants to see them do well,he wont be the first one to develop a love for the club, I wouldn't be surprised if he does it free of just his expenses, its a wait and see approach ,but im open to it
It's players like him (and agents) is to where we are. I can imagine Maja will want to be back as well. When we get a new owner and he pumps millions in they will be all on the band wagon if we get back to the premier. it seems to about money, yet Mcgeady, Honeyman, Gooch etc really like playing for us so keep them here and give them big money.
It seems to me that when he retires from playing, he'll be looking for another source of income . . . . If I needed a job I'd probably say that I had a 'love for the club' too Help us, my arse . . . .
For anyone who wants to see the extended highlights from the above world cup match. It actually features 2 former safc strikers, although only one of them knows how to finish.
