Home set of very unhappy fans wondering what in gods name is happening at their club vs away set of fans bored out of their mind waiting for yet another season in this league - wondering who is likely to be the new manager for next season. Just sounds ruddy grim to be honest - how the hell Sunderland with parachute ££££ / 25,000 + gates are quite in this position is beyond me. I did predict them around 19th that being said - but crikey how many clubs across the board are wasting MILLION UPON MILLION. Little Hartlepool need £200k to survive so they say - so little sympathy. Run your club properly for heavens sake. If they get bailed out it'll be someone else next - then another one - then another one ( Busted Year 3000) What strikers me about this fixture more than anything is away support. Newcastle is often viewed as the holy grail, the must go to away game. A weekend on it - a beer fest bla bla. I get it. Cracking away day and been twice - think we've taken 2500 + 3000. Saw 2-2 ( Wickham great goal ) when the toon won the champ + 3-0 routine loss. However, Sunderland is ONLY 15 miles away - yet it just doesn't have that same appeal. I've never been either...... As for this game, have to say right now I think we'll fail to win this, however beat Burton after. It just feels MORE MEH - and it's a shame the ' form ' has gone to pieces as the first half was quite promising. Injuries have been a mess this season - given our budget, we do need the vast majority fit at any point. We cannot have so many out - especially CM - it kills you. 2-0 Sunderland I'll say - we're EXTREMELY charitable at times in fixtures where we REALLY should be looking for 3 points. Will McGoldrick be here come next Sat? Will we sign another loanee ( space for one as Gleeson is a short-term perm ) Stay tuned this week for more boredom in the ' fun ' world of I T F C ..... Yippee.......
No expectation, no quality, no urgency, no desire, no leadership, no cash, = no season ticket, no enthusiasm, no progress, no improvement, no chance.
I don't know whats worse. Being in no mans land, winning the odd game here and there, no chance of play offs, no chance of relegation, no controversies - just a sh!t load of nothingness...or being in Sunderland's position, a big club, parachute payments, fighting a relegation battle and on a downward spiral. Sometimes i wish there was something from our club to get excited about - maybe a relegation battle would do us good (even last season when we only scraped it we never really looked like being in a real relegation fight)
1-0 win for us, but with 34% of the possession, two shots on target, and another player going off injured.
We’ll huff and puff to beat a side MM will subsequently describe as “a good team” and have another snide dig at those who pay his wages.
I'm with you on this mate, I can see more problems with this fixture than meets the eye. I think we're in a poor place at the minute, and can see things getting quite a bit worse before the season fades to black. I don't think we're likely to get sucked into relegation for what it's worth, however you get a fixture like this - away at a relegation side with perhaps some of ours heading for summer holiday mode. I mean we're 15 points ahead, better goal difference with 17 to play so perhaps 3 wins away from being pretty safe - think we'll struggle here. 2-0 H win for me.
I do wonder if he'll stay on for two years - like or hate the guy and I get many are A - BORED of all things ITFC B - Hate Mick C - Hate the footy we watch D - Hate Evans E - all of the above.... I don't think he'll get us relegated and can at least get players in / work with the ' budget ' he has. Part of me thinks SURELY this is the end of it all this summer, part of me thinks Evans will be desperate for Mick to stay. However, I think even if Evans is - I'm 99% sure Mick's had quite enough and will fancy one more go elsewhere. Talk in Holland seems to be building re the VVV Venlo coach. Seems to have done an absolutely SUPERB job there with a tiny club, on you'd imagine a shoestring budget. A gamble, however one MAYBE worth taking! Norwich seem to be giving Farke a bit of time / long-term project which could be good for them yet. With a manager like this, IF as fans we can appreciate it may be a 2-3 year cycle before we see the rewards and not call for his head after 10-15 games - could be a very shrewd appointment. Just dawned on me, providing China goes through and now I'm NOT going to Carrow Road due to a mate being a melt / too easy to watch in the pub with the SW supporters club I may NEVER witness another live Mick game!
Ha I think it's got to the point where - yes, I will generally support Mick as think given the constraints he works under he does a reasonable job. I think I'm just bored period of us right now, or becoming more so. 2-3 years ago I'd have been on the phone and sorted Sunderland out. New ground. Weekend away! Get on it etc. It didn't even enter my mind this time, not once. I know / you know there's every chance it's going to be a grim game. We'll no doubt try to make it to half time then MAYBE have a go - under Mick we NEVER go at teams from the off. I know he's pragmatic etc... bla bla but at times I'd just love us to have a go..... Perhaps we even need relegation to shock people / to unite us / get things right I don't know. All I know, is with this sodding league AGAIN 99% likely ... give me strength. I try to be as positive as possible on here but supporting this lot makes it a bloody challenge.
Know how you feel Westy, and all we get told is Evans puts millions into the Club each season blah blah bloody blah, surely all he's doing is propping up a loss making badly run business? And as he owns the business he's the one running it badly? Relegation? The thought of it gives me the creeps but perhaps we need to go back to basics and the base line is that Evans has to go, only then can we work our way back to respectability, we need owners with vision, ambition, drive, and leadership but we don't have any of those qualities in the Club at present I feel.
Sunderland are better than us at the moment. They've already had a few shots and decent chances, we've not done much. We had a two on three situation but Sears fluffed the final ball. Chambers is on the left at the back to accommodate Carter. Knudsen should be a CB.
