Anyone go today? I did was a laugh too see everyone and a brilliant idea, also once almost the entire academy was on the pitch was a good peer into what saints will become. I know its against players well past there peek but the academy played well and let me tell you, ward-prowse is well worth the hype! Also the lap of honour was a great touch at the end!
Glad the team got to do the lap of honour. Also pleased something was laid on to celebrate our anniversary year.
Yes I was there have just got back home..........Very good and yes the academy was on the pitch....I also liked the look of young Stevens. It was quite Hilarius the mismatch of Paul Williams against OXO. Even in the ex Saints you could see some quality passes. They showed they had a lot of skill in their day. It was really great to see past hero's Monkow, Svensson, Lundekvam and of course Dodd and Telfer just a few worth a mention. Also I got my lap of honour that I missed yesterday. Didn't see the trophy though!!! My one and only disappointment was that they had Dave Merrington as manager or what ever. Couldn't stand the man when he was manager, can't stand his comments on the radio, still can't stand the man now. Just my opinion and personal to me. What happened to wee Gordon I though he was going to lead them, quite a disappointment. It did not spoil my day though!!!!
Gordon missed it for family reasons..not serious I hope. He would have got a huge cheer..though not as loud as Nigel's.
I'm glad a lot of people made it..would have been horrible to put on a party and no one came. I expect there were a few sore heads from Saturday.
Niemi pulled off a great save just before half time that he must have been pleased with because he turned to the crowd and puched the air. It was great to see them all again. 17,454 for a friendly? Some clubs don't even get that for league games.
Killer was quality and looked very fit still. Lundekvam put in a good shift and both received a great reception. Paul Jones, what a guy! He was worth going on his own! All round a funny and enjoyable day and please that the club arranged it.
Loved the guard of honour at the start. The 2 ex keepers both made world class saves which is great to see. Funny to see kelvin having a sit down in the first half and Bart falling on his arse after nearly getting lobbed! Great day out and really reminds me what this club is all about. I know people always say this but it looked like kelvin was saying his goodbyes at the lap of honour.........
A few of the oldies were carrying a few pounds overweight, Doddy, Paul Williams and Flash Gordon to name a (large) few! Inigo looked the part, and Wotton and Telfer were up to the mark, as were Monkou and Ostenstad, ahh! the memories that they instilled.
