Plenty of nice racing to keep us all happy: Goodwood and Curragh (or is it "The Curragh"?) on the flat and Ffos Las and Limerick over the sticks, plus 4 graded races at Auteuil where no doubt scouts-a-plenty will be out looking for a nice French-bred to take over to the UK (or indeed Ireland). The opening race at Ffos Las is full of nicely bred NH types and Jonjo's 4YO On The Off Chance looks worth a dabble. In the 3.25 Peter Bowen can continue his recent good run via Catch The Fire, who needs plenty of cut and can get off the mark here. In the 4.00 Paul Nicholls introduces a very interesting sort in Keppols Hill. Paul Barber is part-owner of this multiple P2P winner and he should get off the mark here. In the 4.30 Curtis / McCoy have another great chance with One Term and they team up again in the bumper with newcomer Mister W K, although the Twister's runner Powermake is also beautifully bred and belongs to Dai Walters (owner of Oscar Whiskey, amongst others, and a shrewd judge). Over at Limerick the undoubted highlight is the Grade 3 Pricewaterhouse Coopers Chase where the wonderful mare Knockfierna is taken to put one over the boys in what looks a tremendous renewal on paper. In the opener, the admirably consistent Burrenbridge Lodge can take home another nice prize, whilst Noel Meade can also get on the scoreboard with Busty Brown in the Grade 3 novices hurdle. The Munster National looks as tricky as ever with plenty running off a career-high mark and it may be worth taking a chance on English raider Qhilimar from the Longsden yard, who goes well fresh and looks on a decent mark. Best of luck trying to pick a winner out of that lot !!
My old friend Maarek is out in the 2.55 Curragh tomorrow and looks insanely overpriced at 11/10. Twice a Group 3 winner this year, his last effort was a superb 3rd in the Ayr Gold Cup under top weight. Drops back to Listed company today and this really looks a piss poor race in comparison to some of the others he has faced. With course, trip and ground all ideal, I honestly cannot see him losing. I think Missunited is going to be there or there abouts in the Irish Cesarewitch and rates a very fair e/w bet at 8/1
Nice one Odddy some fair cards tomorrow. Aidan O'Brien interviewed by not606's very own Odddog after racing at Newmarket today Odddy - Alright Aidan some nice runs today from your horses without getting a winner you ****ing irish bullshitting prick what are the plans for next season. AOB - Thanks Odddy. Listen they have all run well in testing conditions. George Vancouver would have hated that and so would Cristoforo but the lads decided to let them take the chance because they want to take on the best. Odddy - Chamonix looks an interesting runner at "The Curragh" tomorrow he could complete a 4 timer- but you also run Devotion and Demurely will they be used as pacemakers ? AOB - Listen Chamonix is a nice horseeee who just keeps galloping and will go on any ground he is exciting for next year. Devotion is a lovely filly I made the mistake of running her in EPSON and she hasn't gone on but I like her. Demurely has chased home Chamonix the last twice and should run another good race. Odddy - **** off telling me to listen you crook and answer my question I am going out for a ****ing curry - are they in there as pacemakers AOB - Thanks Odddy - (walks away pretending to be on his 1991 Nokia 3310)
please log in to view this image Great start to a thread. I hope AOB doesn't come on here. 8pm it's decided to go down the road (20mins) to an international show jumping event. Just got back. After the speed class there was a 6 bar challenge that ended up at 2m 10cms. ****, it looked big. One of the course builders wasn't very tall and the commentators were taking the piss because he had to stand on a block to put the top poles on. Churning out some heavy rock between rounds and as each contestant entered the arena. We amused the French by giving it some to we Will Rock You (and I only had one glass of wine). Great atmosphere. Good luck with the GGs later today.
The best mare in Ireland back out tomorrow, the mighty Knockfierna 7/4 is short enough but its the Gerraghty, Byrnes, Limerick factor, plus her form isnt too bad either. Russell siding with Rivage Dor does not bode well for Rathlin who is likely to need to the run and is giving weight away to everything, Down In Neworleans looks a really nice type, but trainer reckons he will need the run and he has a bit to find on the form, him and Rathlin will probably make it a decent test with Imperial Shabra likely to be up there for as long as he can last, False Economy has a chance, he has some good form in the book and he wont be far away from Rathlin but he doesn't convince me so I think the main danger will be Rivage Dor who was rather impressive last time in a solid race, he might just be an improved horse this year and he has the benefit of a recent run so Knockfierna will need to be tuned up to win this and im counting on Byrnes having her fit enough at their local track. Burrenbridge Lodge 10/3 could look a big price if bouncing back from that run last week.
Can't resist a crack at the Munster National, despite being fully cognisant of the fact that it's punters like me betting in races like this that keeps bookies in clover. The Bishop Looney is a previous "National" winner (Cork) who goes well in big fields, copes with any ground and a variety of trips. Rated 128, which seems fair enough, and at 16/1 he's a bit of e/w interest in the sort of race I can't help betting in.
Another lumpy bet today with yesterday's tidy return. Today's horse is CHARM SCHOOL 4.35 Ffos Las 5~1. I like this animal a lot and he definitely has the beating of the favourite. Looks sure to go well coming back fresh from a well earned break. A course and distance winner and this represents a drop in class from his last run in the Swinton. Adam Wedges three pound claim is a handy bonus. Best bet of the day by far for me.
Pissed myself this morning reading that. It's the opening line that got me in stitches. Straight to the point and RV has got the the AOB response to the absolute tone!
Toppy was bored http://www.racingpost.com/news/hors...ck/1133344/top/#newsArchiveTabs=last7DaysNews Bucks was right
Just seen that news on RP. That is now TWICE that we have known Alan King injuries prior to it going public. Yet more robbery on the exchanges no doubt. ****ing corrupt industry.
Anyone seen the national hunt jockeys race in Goodwood's opener? Really like King's Troop for that. Very well handicapped, and at least it is a trainer-jockey combo that is tried and tested together. Will actually run well stepped up in trip on the flat IMO.
4.20 Goodwood: EXCELLENT RESULT 15/8 (NAP) Shaped superbly when splitting Space Station and Elkaayed (with TELESCOPE winning), which on formlines suggests a big run as AUTUN has franked already, as have VALLARTA and ZAMOYSKI, with other creditable runs from Number One London, Tawhid, and Pinarius. Any improvement should see him go very close.
