Sunday wasn't the best footballing day for me. I had three games that I cared about - my sons' U12 and U15 matches, plus Fulham. In the morning, the U12s (who I manage) started brilliantly, playing the best we've played all season and really taking control against the opposition, who were higher in the table than us (as is everyone else in our league). Then, after 10 minutes someone realised there had been a mix up with the pitches and we were playing against an U11s team rather than our correct opponents! We lost the proper match 10-0 (although to be fair, 5 goals came in the last 10-15 minutes after our goalkeeper went off injured). Then in the afternoon, my eldest's team went 2-0 down by half time to a team they should have been beating, we came back to lead 3-2 but gave away a very late penalty and drew 3-3. At full time, Fulham were 1-0 up, it was 1-1 by the time we had walked back to the car and on the drive home we got to hear the missed penalty, the Oldham winner and the news that the game had ended. My aggregate score for the weekend was 5-15! Was I downhearted? Well, just a bit.
