I used to have a laugh at Liz Price on another forum and you wouldn't believe the amount of people jumping down my throat to defend Liz.

I took some real flak for pointing out that Liz usually tips the favourite and goes each-way on the second favourite.

I guess maybe some guys have a fancy for her or something. <rose>

Well done with Royal Marine Ron.

Anodin was given a fair bit to do and these French jockeys often seem to run from off the pace and get caught out.

I am not a big fan of doing Freddy Head runners other than first time out. They don't seem to progress the way other French trainers youngsters do.

Anodor was shorter for the Guineas than Persian King at 20/1 and I felt that was all wrong. I suppose you can have any price you want on him now. I never do Freddy Head horses for the 3YO Classics in the UK, he's more of a home bird and Andre is the man you want for the job.

Did anyone have that 68/1 shot that won the Arabian Cup?

I knew a grey would win it.

The Al Thanis will be livid it was not one of theirs... <laugh>

James Doyle looks a big lad to be carry 8 stone 9lb. Jesus these jockeys must put themselves through torture to do that weight.

Having an all or nothing day today, normally nothing day. Done the 3 favs at Longchamp with Enable, Battash and Wild Illusion being my bankers in various double, trebles thrown in with a few from over here including Dotties Dilema, Vosnee Romanee and a few others. Enable all day long for me though.

Well done Frankie and ENABLE

****ing hell, what a race. Well done Enable but what a filly that Sea of Class must be

I have to have a go through the card as I'm not going today and will have to watch on the TV
13.20. Rocques is fav and unbeaten but not convinced she's beaten much so I will try dutching two at bigger prices. Ceratonia, although beaten by the fav, is re-opposing and I doubt Appleby would come over if he didn't think she had improvement in her. Dubai Beauty won on debut then disappointed in the Mayhill.
1 point win Dubai Beauty 12/1
1 point win Ceratonia 6/1

13.55 Royal Marine was good enough to see off the smart Turgenov (won yesterday) and 13/2 is too tempting
2 points win Royal Marine at 13/2

15.05 Covered above

15.50 Wild Illusion. Ran well in the 2000 Gns over inadequate distance on fast ground. Doesn't quite stay the 12f in top company but seems much better over this distance. Lady Frankel was fast catching the first 2 in this race last year and may have been prep'd for this
2 points win Wild Illusion at 7/2
0.5 point win Lady Frankel at 10/1

16.25 On the ground, the 3 that stand out for me are Battaash, Tantheem and Soldier's Call. They have all run fast times on softish ground. Battaash carrying the same weight as his scintillating win last year, Tantheem has to carry 12lb more than when winning in very fast time on soft over 6f. That could weigh her down over what will be a quick 5f but should be running on. Soldier's Call ran a fast 5f at Chantilly to win unchallenged and carries 7lb less today
2 points win Battaash at 15/8
2 points win Soldier's Call at 9/1

17.00
1 point win Polydream at 15/8
0.5 point win Gustav Klimt at 5/1
0.5 point win Tornibush at 16/1

17.30
1 point win Bayoun at 4/1
Bugger. Could have gone after all and it wouldn't have cost anything. (even if I don't have another winner). Might have had a heart attack though <laugh>

So much for concentrating on those who go well on soft. Should have stuck with my assertion the other day when I said I can't see the ground turning soft. Sun is shining here.

This will obviously improve the chances of Sea of Class in the Arc and Mabs Choice in the Abbaye but I won't change my selections and, I think decrease the chances of Battaash winning the Abbaye
Ah well. I can be pleased with that. Even though I didn't update my selections - and can't bloody spell

I thought Soldiers Call had that L'Abbaye but as much as I was screaming for the winning line, the closing stages of the race seemed to take as long as the Grand National from the Elbow.

Still, he ran a cracker and I have him at 8/1 for the Breeder's Cup Juvenile Sprint, where he surely holds a great chance back against his own age group. Battaash is getting a bit disappointing now and Soldiers Call came past him well for such a young horse.

Well done to Mabs Cross backers.

The jockey on Polydream was totally useless in the Foret.

I didn't have a bet in the race, as I had declined to back Polydream when she was 3/1 and certainly wasn't going to take 13/8 yesterday. The jockey had her trapped in but could not get out and even after he gave up she was still finishing quite well. A desperate effort from the saddle there. It's no wonder punters think it's a fix sometimes.

Thought the 2yo races should throw up some horses worth following next year.
Felt Star Terms could be a better horse next year. If she's anything like her ancestor Time Charter she'll improve quite a bit.
Also thought the colts race threw up 2 interesting prospects. I think Murphy was right when he said he thought the winner would be a miler. The pedigree points to an 8f horse, in fact he might be better at the dreaded 7f. Meanwhile Broome impressed me. quite a bit. A lovely looking Australia colt (hence his name) he is out of an Acclamation mare called Sweepstake who won over an extended 8f in the USA after starting her career with Hannon. This mare comes from a good Peter Goulandris family (Hesmonds Stud) who probably had his best day with Bulaxie. Acclamation may make you think this colt would be more suited to 8f than 12f but I liked his style. On a galloping course like Newmarket I'd fancy Broome to turn the tables on Royal Marine. He may also get further.

Well done to Mabs Cross and Dods. He's my local trainer.
