Racing at Musselburgh goes ahead, which means a full programme of racing on ITV..

I think Blue Lord is very interesting in the Chanelle Pharma Novices Hurdle (2.10) at Leopardstown. He travelled really strongly in the Lawlor's Of Naas (perhaps a little keen early - which was to be expected with the very slow pace on heavy ground) and was done for stamina by Bob Olinger in the end. I think the drop back to 2 miles will really suit him and he is possibly more of a speed horse than Appreciate It. Worth finding out at 9/1.

Blizzard conditions in Berlin this more so glad of the chance to watch some racing in a warm, snug flat <ok>

It seems highly likely that most of the short priced runners will oblige barring accidents again today, the handicaps just look the usual minefield, and you could stick a pin in them as much as study the form for a while, for all that it would be worth.

With that in mind, I'm going to side with The Storyteller @20/1 to land the Gold Cup. He has been in superb form over fences since winning last October and having backed him at Down Royal, where he beat a good field, I'm taking him to win this today. He was given a nice run around here at the Christmas festival over hurdles and I envisage that today is the race where they decide if it's going to be the big one in March or not.

Elsewhere, at Musselburgh, Corach Rambler 2.25 is drifting since the market formed, but I'm not letting that put me off today, he relishes the going and will be staying on when others are crying out - enough. He was unfancied lto and ground it out, so at 40/1 , he's worth an each way bet to me.

    Morning all..two bets today:

Musselburgh 2.25pm Threeunderthrufive 6/4 win. Unbeaten over hurdles, he looked quite impressive defeating Valleres. Step up in trip looks like it will suit, especially so round Musselburgh's tight track.

Leopardstown 3.40pm Delta Work 4/1 each way. Won this race last year and loves it at this course. I think he ll be primed to defend his crown. Was a soft unseat last time out and a small field here will suit. Will be interesting to see how Minella Indo does after a crashing fall last time but at the prices I would rather back last years winner.

I also like Bareback Jack up at Musselburgh for Donald McCain. If the first one above goes in, I ll invest some on him.

    Good luck all! :emoticon-0148-yes:

We're just on the North-eastern edge of it mate - it is a lot worse in central and western Germany, as much as 50cm snow in some places. It is white over here but probably only 5-10 cm. We do have a bitterly cold easterly wind though and my weather site tells me it is currently -6 with the wind chill taking it down to -14. I'm off to the bakers to get some rolls now, wish me luck <ok>

Thanks, they have been predicting this for a few days here, the last time a system like that tracked across to us, it was the "Beast from the East" and we had very heavy snowfall here. What will be, will be, i guess. Not much we can do about it.

Safe trek Oddy, just thinking, those rolls would be lovely with a nice spicy Tomato soup on a cold day <ok>

This just in from my nephew in Holland - I believe this is what is heading to the UK:

Got my rolls OK but it is bloody cold - especially on exposed skin. The wind blowing the snow into your face is bloody painful but maybe a cheap and easy peeling treatment for those who like that sort of thing

Going to be a cold week or two, brrrr.

Seems a few are having a go at this 2.25 in Musselburgh. Corach Rambler how out to 50/1, must have woke up with only 3 legs today. One withdrawal, so all going well the 8 will make it to post and I'll happily take 3rd at 40/1 <ok> good luck lads.

I'm in Durham and I woke up this morning to find my back garden covered in snow. Mind you, it snows here during the summertime. It's not that deep, though.

    Chapel Stile - Just because

That bumper winner yesterday <yikes> <laugh>

I'd still be worried about Elliot's stable form compared to Mullins so I think Youmdor is the one here.
