Have a great day Karlos <cheers>

Here a few tentative thoughts, given that Aintree has never proved a happy hunting ground for me:

1.50 A very trappy opener and I usually avoid these conditionals races like the plague. The Grand Visir could make a mockery of 125 but I'm not sure he is yet to be trusted in this sphere and a more solid proposal is lurking at the foot of the weights. Uno Mas dotted up at Ffos Las and can be competitive once again at the foot of the handicap, despite being up 9lbs for that effort. Stablemate Asserted also worth a second look.

2.25 Another grand spectacle in prospect here as the veterans slug it out over 25 furlongs. Black Op takes a steep drop in class having run a creditable 7th in the Cheltenham Gold Cup just over 7 months ago but, whilst he has gone well fresh in the past, I think the ground will be plenty quick enough for him today and his cramped odds don't appeal. Minellacelebration took this last year of the same mark and warrants respect but my tentative selection is Wishing and Hoping who (on a line through Jatiluwih) could have been slightly underrated by the assessor on handicap debut.

3.00 A worthy renewal of the Old Roan featuring one of my favourite horses in training, Allmankind. He had a nice spin over hurdles a couple of weeks back and could take some pegging back on this fast ground and is blue on oddschecker this morning. However, I'm reluctantly passing him over in favour of last year's winner, Nuts Well. Clealry a "top of the ground" horse, he showed his liking for the track when finishing a fine second in the Melling Chase and he has once again taken the same Kelso Handicap as last year (off a 7lb higher mark) en route to this and I give him a serious chance here. My only worry is that Nicholls might have his runner cherry ripe and he could make a mockery of 148 but that's possibly a big if.

3.35 Not that much to go on here so probably one the favourite Gelino Bello can take. The form of his 3rd in the Newbury listed bumper is working out well and if he takes to hurdling he should take all the beating.

4.10 My eye is drawn again to the foot of the handicap and Mackelduff. Whilst he beat a load of rubbish at Southwell, he could do no more than dot up and an opening mark of 115 does not look bad at all.

4.45 A tricky little novices handicap chase and if it were more testing I would be more confident in Corach Rambler, who has looked a dour stayer thus far and has won over extended trips over hurdles on soft and heavy. That being said, he does look the most likely winner after a decent 3rd on chase debut over an inadequate trip. The others seems to offer more questions than answers so again, a tentative selection.

5.20 No chance me picking the bumper winner today after yesterday's success. Those with experience do not look like world-beaters in terms of bare form so it is worth chancing one of the newcomers and my dart has landed on Fergal O'Brien's Sorceress Medea. She is a half-sister to Gala Ball and Beast Of Burden on the dam side and should have a bit of speed, being by Walk In The Park.

As I said, Aintree is usually a poor watering hole for me so treat these thought accordingly.

    Have a fantastic day <cheers>

1.50 Bootlegger 10/1. Seemed to have an ideal prep on his first run back and should go close if this race hasn't come too soon. Most bookies paying 4 places so I've opted to go EW on this.

Have a good day Karlos <ok>

Ta mate, that was really easy wasn't it? Connections might have wished the jockey hadn't won so far, I think there will be another hefty rise coming after that.

Great run from Allmankind - where next for him though? Probably needs to stay at 2m4f+ to avoid Shishkin so possibly the Ascot race in November and further down the line the Ryanair?

Itchy Feet <laugh> that is first time in quite a while that I’ve seen a horse who clearly had no intention of trying to race when asked. Head turned sideways as he passed the third as if to say “am I supposed to be trying?”
