Just watching the Douvan replay and my first observation is that there were 30 lengths first to last at the first fence, despite going off at a dawdle. That really does need looking at. Right, back to the replay .........................

Well it was alright, but it was basically a schooling round. I am still most taken by Bristol De Mai for the Arkle - think he will be a cracking chaser with more experience and I can see him getting his revenge on the more experienced Garde La Victoire. 20/1 on Bristol De Mai with a number of firms looks a nice e/w angle on the Arkle at the moment.

Most of them just going through the motions Oddy..3 runs over birch cruising at the back and a handy mark evolves.

Fewer options in Ireland for such beasts...only a couple of novice events each week and loads are balloted out.

Took one look at Douvan today and the first thing that went through my head was 'JLT'.

He and Vautour remind me so much of one another- big athletes but both bred to stay. I think he could cruise around in a JLT and move up through the gears whereas an Arkle just might not suit him.

I know that might sound frankly ridiculous right now but he was a bit careful at his fences and is a big galloping horse. Dont know if Willy has anything else to compete at 2m novice chasing though?

Not a hope Douvan goes anywhere but tbe Arkle but see your point of view

Beefys got him at 25s for the JLT just in case, backed him a day before the Prix Karly Flight at Compiegne in 2014

If the prices are in the history no questions asked, but 2 prices being touted and there is no record of either existing on the 9th of march.

I backed Douvan on Monday for the Arkle at 10s and also doubled with UDS for the Champion Chase at 5s!

Was a pure dart Hully, doubled with UDS at 5s, should a done a single probably but felt the Champion Chase was so poor before last year's renewal was worth chucking him in.
