    13:55 Curragh - Turret Rocks e/w

(Already put-up by Smokey (just noticed) but also an e/w fancy for me for the Irish 1000 Gns. Filly had a troubled run at Newmarket, bumped at least twice, bustled along to race in contention, and was unable to sustain run. Hopefully, Manning can ride her with a little more restraint this time? Certainly on breeding, she should be able to handle the soft ground conditions. Sire Fastnet Rock certainly handled cut, and is himself a son of Danehill, a soft-ground sire. Damsire, Galileo, won on anything, didn't bother him what it was. 20/1 available in seven places at time of writing)

    All for nothing, NON-RUNNER.

Not one I could go "mental" on but the veteran FORT GEORGE 12/1 Fakenham 2.40 has dropped to a very attractive looking mark of 95 and should go close.

It may turn out that Kevin Prendergast’s Awtaad is a top-draw miler and that Galileo Gold is an average Guineas winner; however, for now, the three year old milers do not appear to be a vintage crop. We will see when the generations meet as some reasonable older milers are in training.

Connections of Time Test must be regretting their decision to bypass the Lockinge in favour of the Tattersalls Gold Cup, having withdrawn their charge because of the soft going. The Grey Gatsby gives it a miss too, but is Found really a good thing?

Today, the Irish 1000 Guineas puts the Newmarket form under examination again but the rain-softened ground has changed the dynamic. It is still almost impossible to look beyond Minding, as her odds suggest she is a class above the others and the only question mark would be the softest ground that she has encountered. Now Or Never looks too obvious for the forecast, so how about the Aga Khan’s Tanaza?
