Sunday's Meetings Fairyhouse N/H 7 Races 12:30-3:40p.m. Carlisle Abandoned Leicester Abandoned Racecards At The Races Racing Post Sporting Life Good Luck
Unbelievable card... whose bubble is going to be burst?! I have Samcro down as needing 3 miles so be interesting tomorrow against Fakir. Ferney Hollow is supposedly a weapon.
I'm really interested to see how Ronald Pump fares in this. Decent price and on a seemingly massive upward curve. I probably won't have a bet in the race but on paper should be a belter and can't wait to see it
9 horses in that Royal Bond Novice Hurdle Timeform have 4 of them carrying the small "p" and 2 carrying the big "P" The top 2 (stable mates)
I shan't bore the forum with any reasoning here, as some are self evident. Here are my picks for the majority of the Fairyhouse card. 12.30 - A Wave Of The Sea 5/4 1.00 - Envoi Allen 4/5 1.30 - Samcro 13/8 2.40 - Honeysuckle 15/8 3.10 - Ilikedwayurthinkin 11/2 3.40 - Fun Light 16/1
Samcro needs 3 miles done well to win 8 from 12 so far mostly at 2 miles then, G1s at 2m and 2m5.... If Samcro cant beat Fakir Doudaries they can forget about Cheltenham, that one is getting hyped for beating Melon but Melon is a flat bred horse who looked gone at the game last season and is now pushing 8yo, he was unlikely to thrive over fences and is almost certainly past his 5/6yo best. Fakir Doudaries was beaten 11L in a poor supreme before finishing 2nd in the extremely weak Juvenile division G1s, Samcro ought to be winning comfortably if hes to be a serious contender for the JLT. The Royal Bond has proven a good pointer to the Albert Bartlett over the years, with multiple Albert Bartlett winners and placed horses soundly beaten here before stepping up in trip, im hoping Midnight Run can follow that same path as he wont have the speed for these tomorrow and is a staying chaser in the making. Hard to oppose Envoi Allen because hes beaten most of them, some multiple times, and he looked the part on hurdles debut. This race hasnt produced a Supreme Novice winner since Like A Butterfly 20 years ago, although Labaik was due to run before refusing! and Jezki and Mengli Khan have placed recently, so it seems more likely to have a bearing on the Neptune and Albert Bartlett. That said, if Envoi Allen wins well they can take their pick, if hes beaten then the Neptune will almost certainly be the target. I think Soviet Pimpernel 12/1 is worth an e/w bet, he has looked a nice horse in bumpers and won his maiden easily before a good 2nd run in a decent race at Cheltenham in the context of this race. This isnt a particularly deep event and this flat bred has a good chance of placing against horses who will be better over further. Envoi Allen is already priced up likes hes won this for Cheltenham so its difficult to stomach taking his current 4/1 odds for the Neptune, especially given he has multiple options and you cant be sure which race he will run in. He could end up one of the most hyped favourites of the meeting and very short on the day.
2:05 Fairyhouse - Killer Miller 15/2. Win. A horse seemingly with issues which has meant that its been quite lightly raced. Generally consistent when running and the run a couple of weeks ago wasn't a bad one and should have blown away any cobwebs. Any improvement on that which is not unreasonable to expect should see it go close.
Samcro was made to look like a boat by the 2 milers last year... he doesn’t have gears and to me doesn’t find anything off the bridle, he wins his races through his high cruising speed and having won his point I think the further the better with him. If they crawl and sprint he will be caught out over 2 1/2 in my view...
He was made to look like a boat by one superstar 2 miler, was no shame in that. He's certainly not a specialist 2 miler and I think he could go 3 miles no problem but to say he needs 3 miles is absurd given his record, horse will be absolutely fine at 2m4. I'd be surprised if he was under 20/1 for the rsa.
As I said about Samcro during his hyped up unbeaten run in his first season. He had no chance against the class hurdlers over 2mile on a sound surface. Not much front extension. He has an engine which is very useful when he can just gallop his rivals into submission. Haven't seem him lately but if he has taken to fences then a 2 mile chase on soft ground should be well within his compass. I can't remember the thinking but doesn't 2.5miles over fences equate to 2miles over hurdles? If so then 2.5 miles on soft should suit him down to the ground. If it comes to a battle, I wouldn't expect him to find much off the bridle so he needs to gallop the opposition into the ground; something he won't be able to do on a sound surface
Seeing that Labaik was mentioned above by Edouard, is there any more news regarding the horse? The criminal assets bureau had seized him off Gordon because he was owned by a gangland member here, and he was deemed part of his assets, which were taken by the state. I believe the horse got the all clear a while back and haven't heard much more on the matter...Gordo would want to be minding who he does his business with as its a dark slippery road taking animals off people involved with crime. * insert Michael O'Leary jokes here
Reports today that BVD could be out for the season, as I feared yesterday, looked a very bad one and Kempton all but ruled out id imagine. Nicky Henderson is hopeful Buveur D'Air will make a full recovery from the injury he picked up in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle - but whether he runs again this season is a "grey area". The two-time Champion Hurdle winner made a bad blunder at the second-last flight in his narrow defeat to Cornerstone Lad at Newcastle on Saturday. A piece of wood from the hurdle became wedged in his hoof, and he finished lame, with Barry Geraghty dismounting after the line. "The injury was so freakish you'd think it was impossible to even do it," Henderson told Racing TV's Luck On Sunday programme. "A great wedge of wood went into his coronary band, right underneath the hoof. "I've spoken to AP (McCoy), who is at the surgery, and I'm going down soon. In simple terms it's like a very large splinter underneath your nail, and it is very sore. "The good news is that the coffin joint hasn't been infected, which is very important, so now it is a matter of getting the piece of wood out from under the hoof - but they will have to open the hoof to let it come out, because it's the only way. "They are hopeful they can do it without a general anaesthetic, and then - all going well - it is a matter of how long it takes to grow the hoof back over, which will undoubtedly be some considerable time. "The risk of infection is a worry - but the fact the coffin joint isn't infected is a big thing, because that is real danger area." While hopes are high of a full recovery, Henderson cannot put a timescale on a return to action. He added: "Nobody is even talking about when we might see him next - all that is being talked about is making him more comfortable, eliminate the pain, but he's in the best place.
Midnight Run looked like he may have went wrong and pulled up, I was hoping he got well beaten today but thats not ideal, the good news is its definitely the Albert Bartlett if not injured, he had no chance today. Envoi Allen gets the job done and almost certainly will be the Neptune for him, he wasnt impressive enough for the 2 miler.
