Another expensive gelding sent to Jonjo O'Neil makes his rules debut today. Mt Fugi Park changed hands for £290,000 after winning his maiden point (2nd placed Lord Of Thunder is now with the Tizzards and went off at 80/1 in the Persian War Novices Hurdle on Friday but was pulled up) and kicks things off under Jonjo in the 2.10 at Ffos Las. Paul Nicholls has the hot favourite in Wrappedupinmay who can be forgiven has odds-on defeat at Sandown when last seen and ought to be a much different proposition today. Eau De Berlais was 2nd in two points and has seen a bit of e/w money and is interesting for a place.

The Welsh Champion Hurdle has a nice competitive look to it with plenty of the 10 runners holding chances. Last year's winner Effernock Fizz is 3lbs higher this time around but does have the 7lb claimer on her back. Amazingly, this will be her 22nd run this year although only 1 victory does temper the old enthusiasm. Anyharminasking seems to have been penalised for being the only horse to ever beat Constitution Hill (in a point) and 133 still seems high and the two above him in the handicap, Gin Coco and Nemean Lion, make most appeal. Gin Coco ran a cracker in last season's Greatwood off 131 and goes really well fresh but the one they all have to beat at the weights is Nemean Lion. He finished a fine 3rd in the Tolworth last season before taking a (relatively weak) Grade 2 at Kelso on just his 4th start over obstacles. He is entitled to improve on that and the 8lbs he gets from Strong Leader can prove decisive.

Dundaniel looked promising between the flags on his sole start and the ground could possibly be against a few of the other horses who are prominent in the market against him today. At 7/2 I feel it is fair enough of a price to win on his rules debut where questions remain over many of his rivals. Runs in Cork at 16:20.

Also bet on Favoir in the Welsh champ hurdle at 17/2. Conditions should be fine and I felt he represented a bit of value compared to others in the field who could turn out to he decent down the line.

Dundaniel ran creditably, few minor errors down the home stretch but he was likely held either way. Looks a horse who might be suited for intermediate trips.

Faivoir not up to it today. Sometimes it pays to go with the obvious and the winner Nemean Lion was just that.

<ok> Oddy. I just noticed that Timeform had him top rated and the only one in the race with a "p". Not sure if you would have doubled your stake or avoided it had you known

I don’t know where to find Timeform and their “p” Ron. I mostly use Racing Post and Sporting Life (plus Attheraces for race tends / history)

The other is on the Timeform site (free registration)
