Cagnes-sur-mer 1055 Brooks should take the hatrick with a 9lb claimer skinny odds at evns though. It should be a great opener and i probrably would have sided with the n/r (6) . 1130 kamyador at 15/8 should take this 1205 kiroz 7s with 365 and tote but gen 9/2 115 listed chase i love the odds on missed cue 16s gen , i think 365 have missed cue priced right at 9s but i wont be arguing with the 16s ew 232 LASSITER 2S
Again, just cannot get over the prize money at Cagnes-sur-Mer today, e.g. in the listed Chase at 13:15 take a look at this! 1st: €44,730.00 2nd: €14,200.00 3rd: €7,100.00 4th: €4,970.00 Mamma Mia! If that isn't the answer to what's wrong with betting in the UK, then I give-up. Then, maybe I should?
Trouble is Swanny, the structure in UK doesn't allow for it to provide the same prize money. ie there is no central control as to how the money going into horse racing is allocated. The UK seems to be focused more on providing for the punter (competitive odds) and the bookies, who get rich. In France horse racing and show jumping are controlled centrally, administratively and financially. I don't know but I imagine Australia, US and Japan are the same, all pay good prize money. (A nice touch here is that the breeders are also rewarded when a horse they bred wins prize money) Unless UK follow suit there is too much reliance on bookmakers and sponsors, and not many big sponsors will be interested in races outside the big names That would require a very brave and strong government to pull that off and it will never happen
Many thanks for the clear explanation, Ron. Agree 100% on last line, i.e. "That would require a very brave and strong government to pull that off and it will never happen"
