Right then being realistic who would you like to see come into the club. I dont think we will spend anything like we did last summer but i think Nigel will spend a bit of money. They will mainly be young players coming in with a point to prove and that is the type of players we need. In the summer alot of players will probably be leaving aswell like Howard, Pantsil, Weale, Mills, Beckford, Tunchev, Vassell. I think a big part of why we have been bad this season is the midfield. We need to bring in some midfielders or we wont get up to much next season aswell. 2 players i would like to see come in is Liam Trotter from Millwall and Grant Leadbitter from Ipswich, Leadbitter is a free agent in the summer so i think he would be a cracking signing. We need a right back to come in to compete with Peltier aswell and probably a centre half to come in with Mills and Tunchev looking like leaving we will need to bring in a 4th defender for competition and cover for Morgan, St. Ledger and Bamba. We also need a winger or 2 to give us more options. I think Ben Marshall looks better behind the strikers but he is an option down the wings. Nigel may go back in for Cameron Stewart at Hull. If the current rumours about Beckford are right he will be sold in the summer. Steve Howard should be let go aswell as he is no longer up to it so we will need at least 2 strikers. 1 needs to be a target man and i would like to see Marko Futacs from Portsmouth come in for that role and we will need a striker to partner Nugent. Weather Waghorn is that man or Nigel will have to go into the market remains to be seen. But we dont need massive surgery in the summer, just a little bit of tweaking and freshening up the squad and clearing out some of the clutter. So who would you like to see come in?
Whittingham? Snodgrass maybe too ambitious and Maynard isnt playing at West Ham... we could wait and see what that situation is.
Why would Peter Whittingham want to leave Cardiff to come here? Snodgrass will go to the prem and Maynard didnt want to come before so why now. Its people like him we need to avoid
As we will be better placed to get in the premier league next season- and cardiff have real money troubles.
Cardiff could still yet go up this season. I think there would be Prem clubs in for him so i cant see him coming here but i would love him here
have we learned nothing? getting "names" in does not work for us...It does not matter who we bring in if the underlying fundamentals are to cock... the right personalities, mentality and attitude is far more important than a list of famous names...this needs addressing and thinking about deeply.....I have no list of magic bullets ..I really hope the management have, cos if they get it wrong early on, they won't be around very long.. its a proper team we need rather than a wish list....how thats achieved im not quite sure anymore...
We need more players like Peltier, Marshall, Drinkwater brought in. Young players with a point to prove. Add some experience like Danns, Morgan, Konchesky to them and it should help us create a team ethic which is clearly lacking.
Offer anyone a decent enough wage and they'd come, but it'd no doubt be more of the same if we did, plus more resentment from other fans on this forum again. I would be happy with more midfielders and strikers who can score goals when needed, and a decent back up for Kasper.
Schmeichel Clyne - Morgan - Chester - Koncheskey Danns - Trotter Marshall Commons-------------Stewart Nugent Bamba, Leadbitter, Drinkwater, Futacs, Schlupp I reckon they're all 'Pearson' players. Two have played with him before. The front 4 can all score goals and the back 6 can all defend and play the ball. Should lead to a dynamic side that can attack with pace while showing rugged defending. Mills, Beckford, Pantsil, Howard, Waghorn, Wellens will all go IMO.
To be honest, I think the worst thing we could do would be to have a complete overhaul of the squad again. Considering our biggest problem, arguably since Nigel left, has been consistency so do we want to go changing it all again? I do feel we have a core of a decent squad. I would say that a few shrewd additions and the sales of those who don't want to be here would be ideal on the transfer front. Maybe get rid of a few of the 'old guard' and replace with fresher faces. The main thing though is better team spirit and unity which Nigel will always develop. Schmeichel (C) Logan Smith Peltier NEW RB Morgan Bamba St Ledger Parkes/NEW YOUNG CB (prepared to bide his time and learn from the other three) Konchesky Kennedy Drinkwater Danns King Wellens (still a useful squad player) NEW CM Marshall Dyer Gallagher (if he can re-discover his form)/NEW WINGER NEW WINGER Nugent Beckford (if he bucks up his ideas)/NEW STRIKER Waghorn Schlupp Howard/NEW TARGET MAN STRIKER (preferably experienced)
players i wouldnt mind: Charlie Austin Maynard if he doesnt change from about 4th choice at WH Karacan (if reading dont go up) Matt Phillips Neil Eardley Hudson (cb, cardiff) Whittingham (ambitious?) Liam Lawrence Jack Hobbs James Chester Cameron Stewart Becchio Snodgrass Adomah (though overatted) Nathaniel Clyne perhaps (though hugely overrated, only young, not that great) Jacob Butterfield Chris Gunter Liam Trotter Luke Varney (leicester fan) Jordan Rhodes Ched Evans they are the only players who immediately come to mind for who could improve the squad.
2 good wingers, Dyer and whoever plays on the other wing just aren't cutting it, how many crosses lead to goals for us? not enough imo because they are not good enough. Whittingham, Snodgrass, Stuart ... any of these in the summer, and for those who say "why would x player come to us", why wouldn't they? we will all be in the same division and we will all have zero points, no team is better than any other until a balls kicked.
the summer is a real test of pearson as a manager and a person. He hAS to be utterly ruthless and go all out to create a team HE wants. Im sorry but I have to agree wellens, dyer, gallagher and IMO peltier should be squad back up not used every single game they are fit. Marshall isnt really ready for top end championship footy yet hes only played in league 1, yet hes been thrust into the team. Nugent has had to play every single game and looks knackered and fed up playing right midfield. Beckford has some natural ability and thinks hes jesus, scotred a few and swaggers around thinking hes brilliant, not a team player. Wes morgan was superb on saturday the only player who stood out for me, gave his all and thats all we ask for. In the summer I would keep Kasper konchesky Peltier (back up) morgan mills (will come good i reckon) bamba st ledger dyer (back up) wellens (back up) gallagher (back up) marshall nugent schlupp king drinkwater danns moore hopper get rid of the rest and sign right back 2 wingers 1 box to box cm- liam trotter please 2 strikers- simon cox would be nice I cannot beleive we havent signed anyone on loan- when you see blackpool signing dobbie, brum got townsend- a loan or two for the run in can make all the difference, anyway cmpletely disheartened by saturday-shouting at beckford gave me a headache which hasnt totally gone yet- I would ****ing fine him for that joke display- twice chickening out of challenges- 1 of which would have been a goal if he could have been arsed, right in front of our fans who again travelled in the thousands paying money to stand in a cow shed watching us get beat by a team made of league 1 and 2 signings- its getting emarassing now and i want to feel proud to support my team again- Nigel sort it out!
Nigel got in loans in his other season here In league 1 Mark Davies, Wayne Brown and Tom Cleverley came in In the play off year Jay Spearing and James Vaughan came in
Difference this season is that he has bought the players he would have loaned, MM wouldn't have spent £2m on Drinkwater and Marshall.
On a separate note, it might not be easy to just discard certain players. John Pantsil and Wellens are contracted until 2014 (not sure why we gave two 30+'s such long deals) and Mills and Gally until 2015. I think Pantsil will probably move abroad. Wellens will stay if he is prepared to play a similar role to that Oakley did the last couple of years and I think he will. Gally will stay because again I think he and Nigel are happy to have him as part of a squad rather than a first team nailed on starter. There will certainly be interest from other Championship sides for Mills. We'll definitely have to cut our losses in terms of a transfer fee but how many can afford his wages? West Ham if they stay down would be my only guess. I can see him maybe going out on loan with us paying a proportion of his wages.
