Clarke will be the one with the most suitors. Ballard and Cirkin’s injuries probably give us a bit more time before they are in demand. Keane Lewis Potter went to Brentford for £17m and is similar age to Clarke with far less goals and assists so that has to be the starting point to consider an offer. I think it’s 12months too soon for Clarke and us. Another year of regular football would develop his game. He’s critical to our hopes of promotion and some of the younger lads need another 12months before they are close to stepping up. We arguably don’t have a back up for Clarke so that is a requirement this window.
good thing is apparently he's really happy here, close to home and doesn't want to move back to london, personally think a new contract will get done,
ideal scenario would be the club negotiate a new deal so wiped out any sell on fees, Clarke stays another season and if we fail to get promoted he gets a big prem move next season, all that and another season with us probably would add massively to his value if he delivers again, again failing we get promoted ourselves
If Clarke stays with us this season, and I think he will, and we get promoted, why would he then want to move on? Sustainability is not just about selling players for a profit, it's also about developing young talent to play at a higher level with us rather than having to look at expensive purchases. The core of talent we have at the moment in another year or two will be worth multi millions, keep adding new young developing talent and the future will take care of itself.
i think what's finally changed is the club won't be held to ransom anymore, and will stick to the budget, which will be bigger this summer, that's with out selling anyone aswell, can see the wage budget being more open aswell , one things for sure the don't just want top 6 this season, the want top 2
good thing aswell is clarke had his big move and it didn't work out, it's took him a couple of clubs to finally find he's feet again, he won't want to leave in a hurry,
There was a large amount of sarcasm in the Luton comment. But if he goes to a club in the Orem who don’t play a style of football which suits him, his career won’t improve. It’ll go backwards. That’s what I’m saying. I doubt he’ll be here, it’s all hope, his club want something but surely the player should have some say in his own future? If he’s loaned to a struggling side not playing exciting football, it will certainly not improve him
Think we would need to essentially pay-off Spurs to remove any sell-on clause and I doubt that would happen or that they would even entertain it.
I always think its a case of sign a new deal, give us another year and we won't stand in your way. If he indeed wants to go. Brighton done the same with Mac Aallister just before the world cup. Tied him down to a new deal and are looking to get daft money for him now.
Be nice not having Wigan linked with everyone we're linked with this summer, you know.... different leauges and all that.
