Absolutely. Wish we had got him in January to be honest. I'd snap him up at that price, no problem.

It strikes me newcastle and Howe will avoid this type of player for a Chris Wood or a DCL at all costs.

It's worked very well so far, but I do wonder whether a lack of magic here and there might create problems

Slow and steady is very much Howe's mantra.

Which is exactly what the owners liked about him, a willingness to work with the current players and see improvements on the pitch through training. This has happened, we are so much better.

As an interim manager before we try and become a top side hes absolutely perfect tbh.

They'll probably starting adding the bells and whistles this time next year. I mean if you look at the sqaud there's very little to build from up top.

The back line, gk positions and perhaps cm have decent foundations.

Wood - Zapata over him all day. He can do a lot of the big man stuff and still carry significant other threat. I think we'd have had him over Wood in Jan, if it was in any way possible.

DCL - I can see why Eddie might want to cajole the skirt wearing, shirt lifting, toenail painting oddball into a top Toon player, if he could stay injury free. Good player, but I'll never be onside with a man dressing like that.
