Plays mostly as a #10 but can also play CM - will be interesting how he fits into the team. Some more rumours - the delay in Mahrez deal could be due to him waiting on Liverpool who apparently are interested. Liverpool are also interested in Kasper - then again they are linked with any keeper that can catch a ball given what they have now. We are linked with Belgium LB Jordan Lukaku from Lazio - Romelu's younger brother.
I thought LB was going to be a position that got overlooked this summer, but we certainly do need to look at it with Fuchs off next summer and Chilwell still learning. On the other hand though i have no problem with Chillwell playing WB with 3 central defenders, as it would give him less defensive responsibility. Guess it depends if we will change to a back 3 or not, given that the defense is having a major overhaul this summer, it does seem like an ideal time to change the strategy if thats the plan.
Fuchs has said he isn't going to sign a new contract, might be worth looking now for a replacement while he is still here and willing to be backup.
Here is a left field rumour, Lazio want Demarai Gray to replace Sergej Milinkovic-Savic - no offense to the lad but if I was going to replace a £100M+ player, Gray wouldn't be the first name on my list.
Yeah but then you aren’t going to get a decent replacement to be third choice, certainly not someone who could go on to be first choice the following year, and Fuchs and Chilwell are far far too good to be third choice. I’ve never understood this replacing before it’s due thing... in my opinion just get the best man you can when it’s needed
I kinda doubt our ability to do that considering it took us 2 years to get another proper RB. We can always improve - as much as I like the fella, Fuchs is getting older and is going to leave anyway so might not be motivated as before. If we bring in a foreign lad or someone from the lower leagues, he'll know that he will have dead man boots with Fuchs and can concentrate on acclimatising by going out on loan for example. Callum Elder is 23 and has a year left on his contract and it doesn't seem like we will keep him.
We are linked with 20yo Lyon striker Jean Philippe Mateta - he is 6"3 so could fulfull the "aim for the big bugger to flick balls on for Vardy to chase" tactic.
This may be an unlikely rumour, but isn't it what we are doing with Mahrez? If you're not a team right at the top you can't attract the same calibre of player you are having to replace.
please log in to view this image Unless Gray is going to step up next year and become the right winger he was at Birmingham, i don't see the point in keeping him. He blows hot and cold and seems to have no awareness when on the ball.
It feels like we've been waiting for Gray to step up forever, I know he's still young but it doesn't seem like he's developed in terms of decision making and general team play these last 2 seasons. Moments where he shows promise and others where he doesn't seem to have learnt anything.
Apparently we are about to sign the Egyptian forward, Trezeguet - been half decent in the WC so far http://sportwitness.co.uk/egyptian-journalist-says-world-cup-attacker-set-join-leicester-city/
They are a well known club, in the Europa League and would make £100m+ if they sell Sergej Milinkovic-Savic - they can attract players. Now we have Madisson as AM, I can see him playing there now.
We have been linked with him for a while - I watched the Egypt v Uruguay and he was rather cack so is good news that he has improved if this is true.
Our record of signing non British players over the last couple of years has not been good, apart from Ndidi and Fuchs. We don't seem able to integrate them into the team. So I can't get enthusiastic about any of those who are supposedly in the frame.
One positive is that the ones in the frame aren't going to be immediate first team starters - can see us using Gray and Diabate as slack for any Mahrez replacement to get up to speed unless they are really experienced like Ben Arfa or Shakiri who we are linked with.
We are being linked with Mohamed Elyounoussia. Moroccan born Norwegian, 23-years-old. Scored 13 goals and created 17 assists in 44 appearances for Basel last season.
Think you mean Mohamed Elyounoussi. He is a left winger/#10 which we have a number of now - would make Demarai Gray leaving much more likely if true. We are also linked with 26yo German RB Marvin Plattenhardt from Hertha Berlin - someone mentioned before that we are missing a free kick specialist and he is one.
