If true, that is more than generous. If Palace turn that down, I seriously hope we look at other targets. They will rinse us dry otherwise.
£55m up front with £10m in add ons + Reiss Nelson on loan. Agreed, that's a decent offer. If Palace turn that down we should walk away. I'd be tempted to offer the above + Carl Jenkinson and maybe Elneny if it got it over the line.
Ornstein hasn't provided further details on it, but Spanish paper Marca say there is no option to buy, which is understandable. He is apparently still part of Zidane's plans long-term and Ceballos himself has always said he intends on breaking into the Madrid starting 11. This move is about him gaining first-team exposure. Either way, it could still be beneficial to us. If he helps us get CL football, it means we're in a position to pay for a quality Ramsey replacement, rather than counting our pennies. Let's hope he's more successful than the last player we signed from the Spanish league
If we do sign Saliba and Ceballos (along with Martinelli) I would hope we dont stop there; that, by itself, would be an awful window. I would hope we would still sign Tierney and one other. (preferably another defender but its starting to look like we arent shopping for that area)
Agreed, the deal suits us. We get a midfielder and we don't have to lay out a transfer fee, which suits us as we need to spend elsewhere. Also, although there's no option to buy in the loan, a similar thing happened with Kovacic at Chelsea where he was on loan, with no option to buy, but Chelsea negotiated with Real at the end of his loan to buy him outright.
We absolutely need defenders. Tierney would be great, but we still need a CB. Koscielny is off, Holding isn't back for a while yet, so that leaves us with Mustafi and Sokratis as our only recognised CB's. Yes we have Chambers and Mavropanos, but the later is still raw and needs game time in the FA and league cup. Chambers could be an option I suppose, he was terrible as a RB, but he's done okay at CB and he's had a decent season there on loan at Fulham. You'd hope though that we're looking at another CB as well as Saliba, but there are no noises about us being linked to anybody....
If we bring in Cabellos this week (looks likely) I wonder if Ozil will keep his place in the team. You get the impression that Emery doesn't quite rate him or doesent feel he fits his pressing heavy style.. We may well end up seeing... --------------Torreira-----------Xaka--------------- ----------------------Caballos----------------------- --Aubmayang---Lacazette---Zah/Soar/Malc
Do you think Asensio's season-ending injury will affect Real's willingness to let Ceballos go out on loan?
I hope not. They are still stacked in MF so it shouldn’t affect them, but now you mention it I’m worried
If this is true then the papers were full of ****e about the £45m spending limit or there has been a rethink.
Apparently not...this was one of the reasons we pulled out of the loan deal according to some. Could be a good signing but a year may not be enough time for a young player to get to grips with the league
He's currently having a medical apparently so I assume that means you have nothing to worry about. Although Willian was also in the middle of having a medical with us when 2 hours later he was unveiled as a Chelsea player so you never know He's an outrageously talented player and you can see why Real were reluctant to include a loan-to-buy option. I can't quite see him and Ozil fitting in the same side tbh - where do you think Emery will utilise him? Or will Ozil be frozen out again as he was for portions of last season?
I don't think Emery rates Ozil. Although that said, Ozil has had a decent pre season and looks sharp, so he's given Emery a decision to make, which is a good thing for us. Ceballos is touted as a Ramsey replacement, so in theory there is scope to incorporate them both into the team, although I would prefer the defensive balance of Xhaka and Torriera in the team with Ceballos further forward.
