Nixon has just confirmed to me on Twitter that it's Danny Rose. Not sure if it's a good move or not.

I notice you said it's a step down from Buttner though. Why not tell us all you know about both Rose and Buttner and explain to us why you think it's a step down?
As cover he'd be good. I go and watch Spurs with a mate a bit and neither of us think he is great. He says he's decent and versatile, will play anywhere on the left.
He had Swansea down, but apart from a few howlers they weren't that terrible. The simple reality is we can sit here predicting for weeks but no one will ever know what is going to happen.

From what I saw of Buttner on ESPNs Dutch football coverage, which admittedly wasn't extensive because Vitesse don't get shown live often more just highlights. He was a player that stood out with both good attacking and defensive capabilities. He can play fullback, left side of a midfield three and even as an attacking winger. His inclusion in the preliminary holland squad back up the quality season he had.
Rose on the other hand has always seemed to lack defensively and is more of an attacking player. He gets caught out of posistion, which I think u will agree is the weaker side of Foxs game but I see no real improvement. If it was a signing I would be a little happier because he is young and can improve. But for this season Its a big ask. I hope I am wrong.

In fairness that goal is a jammy piece of ****, any competent keeper would have had it.

Awwww c'mon now. I asked him about our business and what he meant about "decisions". Whether he was referring to Buttner, all our deals - OK'ing a deal, starting negotiations etc.
He says Saints have made inquiries for several players. Says we do it a lot. Make an inquiry and then walk away, not telling anyone our intention.
You have to admit he is one of the worse journo's for wanting attention.
