The transfer rumour thread was a great idea, has been enjoyable and a good place to share news, rumours and the like..However the same players are beginning to crop up, as no-one can be arsed to read through 50 odd pages. I think it would be a great idea to house the thread without repeating ourselves like we have some kind of illness...Fear not! I have some ideas, but first: Regular players: Whittingham, Eagles, Pienaar, Rodriguez, Matt Phillips, Mark Davies... Having raised the issue, it's only right I bring forward some ideas: 1) Install a script that recognises player names, then when someone wants to add them to the thread a pop-up or icon comes up to warn 'name already exists - proceed?' 2) The early stages of the thread are put in storage, then we can all repeat ourselves over and over again. Thoughts? 'Yes?', 'no?', 'bugger off mate', 'what difference does it make?' etc?
To be honest it only takes 2 minutes a day to check at whats gone on rumour wise by reading through the 2-3 new pages at most? Not really a big deal...
Bugger off mate. No, but seriously, the thread is silly but I don't see this as a problem. I check the last one or two pages every day to see if anything new has come up, but I don't spend more than a few seconds reading it and, as Godders said yesterday (I think), it's not really worth reading anyway. We've probably got 2-4 weeks before any real transfer activity anyway. Also, I remember there was some sort of debate before the thread was made as to how we wanted the inevitable truckload of rumours to be organised. The majority of people said they wanted just one thread for all of them. I said this was silly, because people wouldn't want to read through one massive thread, and a new thread for each rumour would definitely get more views and spread the word better. Apparently people just really hate having to scroll down the page.
Well, since the average thread stays in page 1 for about a day before being off by the next skip load of threads, I think one rumour thread will do nicely, thanks!
I much prefer the idea of people setting up threads on players when they want, instead of having to put it all in one ridiculously long and boring to read thread. I think we should have voted as a forum before we decided on the one thread, even if I am in the minority.
