Some good business dome by MM though he seems to be having doubts over Brayford. An intersting mix of personnel. Personally I'm pleased with the type of player he's signed. A couple (Caulker and Medel) have walked into the starting lineup with a couple having to bide their time and one or two destined for a year of development before their chance will come. This is reflected in the price paid and suggests that MM is planning for the longer term not just the here and now. If he signs Odemwinge, he'll be the only player over 26 that we have signed with most under 23, Medel being the 26 year old. I thought it stange that we signed another right back (albeit one that can play anywhere across the back 4) but a young CB is part of the conveyor belt. With Huds in his 30s we have Turner at 25, Caulker at 21 and Amondarain at 20 together with Baby Ben out on loan at 19, the CB slots look filled for some time to come if everyone develops as expected (big assumption I know). Similarly we also have youth in the full back slots. Midfield is equally balanced in age ranges with options between 20 and mid 20s up front. The other point of note is that to date, everyone seems to have signed on a 4 year deal. All of the above needs us to stay up this season to take full advantage. While we have now made 8 signings to date, our first 3 games have seen only 2 newbies start (Medel and Caulker), building on the team that got us up. While a couple of the other signings may come to the fore over the season, the boys that got us up have got us off to a good start and we have a deeper squad than last year. Perhaps we sould bump the 'who is in the 25 man squad' thread to the top of the page and see if people have changed their views and who we may now think will be out of the door given the extra signings.
No doubt we have done some great business despite seeming to lose out on the big rumoured ones. We seem to be building for the future and thats good news. Of course there is a slight downside, although we have overcome it so far, and thats the team gelling with new players walking into the first team. The good news is that this year we don't have to worry about selling the crown jewels to keep things afloat, and long may that be.
Unfortunately we need a quick fix for this season, a patch if you will, so thats how he will figure I guess. If we get 2 seasons and he helps us stay up then its a good move.
TNC Africa ‏@TNC_Africa Nigeria international striker Peter Odemwingie has completed his move from West Brom to Cardiff City for £2.5m
Apart from the obvious friction he had recently with west brom he had been pretty classy for them otherwise. little worry over lack of game time in recent months but hopefully get him up to speed and comes with some very needed PL experience.
Sky are reporting it ........@ £4M though? http://www1.skysports.com/football/...r-news-cardiff-close-on-peter-odemwingie-deal
Every one else saying £2.5m, waiting to see the official photo...... will he be #11 ? And if not ?????
£4 million? I was under the impression the Baggies were holding out for £2 million. I hope we haven't been drawn into a bidding war with the other parties.
