I love GOM's posts, I have nothing but respect for him.He's a cracking bloke and a great supporter.
He travels from Bristol, often alone but meets up with the lads, and stays at the Hilton for home games.
You're right about the clowns he's so patient with.

Good post although I disagree slightly about lessons being learned.
I think the club have deliberately built slowly and given responsibility to the young lads. Now they're a lot more savvy we can bring in older players who won't think they're ruling the roost. Nirvana were right, you can actually smell the team spirit and that's not created by bringing in a bunch of transient mercenaries, like Kieffer Moore, who'll sulk if they aren't centre stage.
Whatever Speakman, the coaches and RLB are doing they're building bonds in the squad and now with the support ...
... that's worth another 10 points a season in my opinion.
I've had my doubts about the methods, at the club, but I'm being proved wrong week after week.

Agree. This "lessons have been learnt" is nonsense. There was never anything to indicate that the club were unwilling to sign players with a bit more experience. In fact, the evidence indicates the exact opposite- just that their focus was mainly on bringing in young talent. Claiming that the signings of Mepham and Browne represent the club "learning lessons" or identifying problems that fans could see a mile off, is just people attempting to climb down from their over the top criticism of Speakman/KLD and lack of patience, now that the club's policies have started to bear fruit.
It's an excellent post marra! Exactly to the point,which is there for all to see and cannot be denied,even by the most sceptical ne'er-do-wells we have in our midst.
As things stand at the minute,our entire fan base should be applauding the achievements so far of KS,SH and the rest. If we messed it up a bit last season,we've learned from it and seem to have put things right. Not saying it's going to be all plain sailing from here....we will have our setbacks....but...this squad looks good!

Tbf I think it's coming from the fact last summer most of our signings were young lads with no first-team experience - so it felt like there was no signings that could have improved us in the short term. Where fast forwards to this summer, thankfully a couple from last summer have developed but the signings of Isidor, Mepham, Browne, Poveda, Samed will improve us immediately or at least make an impact immediately. Even Aleksic is a young lad but he's played some men's football.
Hemir had little to no men's experience, Seelt didn't (although I like him), Jobe hadn't had much (but we know he is good), Mayenda didn't, Triantis only had experience in Australia. The signings this summer just feel like a proper step up
Our lads away with their National teams. Please,please Gods of Injury, I have no interest in whether their teams win,lose or draw.......just send them back to us safe,sound and injury free!
I disagree. I think there is a sizeable portion of the fanbase that want instant success and the club to throw money at signings. When they weren't getting what they wanted they were having tantrums.
Patience was always going to be required with the approach that KLD and Speakman have been taking. The fact that this last window's intake looks like a step up is, at least partially, due to the fact that the club has demonstrated its a place where young prospects can come and get game time or where talents who's careers have stalled a little can come and resurrect those careers. Our reputation for that kind of thing is growing. Obviously, Browne and Mepham aren't included in those categories. They are necessity signings, of the type this regime has made previously, but not exciting signings.
Mepham and Browne are exciting signings IMO, they will be two key players toward our success if we achieve promotion i'd be happy to put my neck out this early.
I still do think last year's downfall bar the **** head coach issue, was down to not bringing in players who could improve us instantly and getting rid of pretty much all the experience at the same time, there's a balance you need to keep with having such a young squad and last year the balance went down the gutter
