Are all 18 year olds ****?
I hope we don’t sign that Spanish kid, I prefer late twenties Roberts because he shaves more
Absolutely not, Yamal is obviously exceptional, I don’t think it would be fair to thrust an 18 year old striker into this side and expect them to be able to cope with the demands of this league and fire us to promotion, I don’t think we will do that for what’s it worth either mind

You're using the benefit of hindsight with Wharton, do you genuinely recall people claiming he was undersold at the time?

After Spurs take their cut for Clarke? So you'd need the buying club to be offering a fair bit more than the £17m.

So to use Ekwah and the underselling proposal, would you accept the 5m euros we've apparently been offered for him? Would you have accepted the supposed £7m for Hume? Would you have accepted the £15m for Clarke? Where is it you draw the line?

Just to reiterate, I'm wholly on the same page as you in terms of acknowledging we need a big sale to evolve and progress as a club but I just believe you can't make other clubs buy your players and I personally wouldn't advocate underselling anyone.
I think you have to look at if the club would be in a better place after reinvesting the incoming transfer fee, so £5m for Ekwah after West Ham take their cut would be in the £3-4m range, I wouldn't accept that. Hume for £7m i'm not sure if Linfield have a sell on, if they don't I think I would take that. Clarke for £15m, if we got all of that money i'd be tempted, Spurs take a cut though so i'd want it to be higher.

The lack of reported interest in our players, especially Clarke, has surprised me though. Think i've only seen one Neil link as well.

Not saying they should be the only one we need 2 but if he’s got a season in British football and would be competitive why not have him and Mayenda ready to step in. I know literally nothing about him btw just think ruling out immediately through age is daft.

Weird when people try and use an exceptional case as if it’s the norm. Barring Williams, Yamal was the only player in the Spain Xl under the age of 26. How many of our best Xl last season were 26 or older?

Don’t mind the back up being a youngun at all but we all know the main man should be an experience head, can’t wait for the window to shut to be honest so we can just get on with the season

We were linked a year or so back, maybe January, not now. No need to get wound up over imaginary links man.

The article literally says eight clubs in League One and Two
I’m certainly not wound up <laugh> I’d say more bored at our striker search.

**** him, chasing money over career and development
Tbf to city they are pretty good at developing players and getting them 1st team minutes

They develop n sell players for huge sums of money, think they sold at least 1 academy player for approx 20 million last few yrs

It’s also a matter of opportunity I think. If you’re gonna sit on a bench or in the stands you might as well make it the bench of the best club you can. Don’t think many of our fanbase would have wanted him being a starter at safc this season so why choose us over clubs with much higher standing? In a similar vein, it’s why it’s so important that we give chances to promising young players to actually play - and accept the ups and downs of form from a fledgling career. Otherwise they might as well earn more elsewhere for the same amount of time on the pitch.
